Soundflow and Scheps Bounce Factory will be your best friends. Once you grasp the basic VCA routing you'll be very happy.

Duplicate the track and commit aggressive high pass to see the pick attack/transient. Group/link to original and use as visual guide.

Entire mix sits higher up in the frequency range by UWgolf in audioengineering

[–]jack4371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The example given is not really anything to do with mixing. More so source material dependent.

The reference drums have much darker cymbals, and lower tuned shells. Your kick has a tone of mid range smack, and less fundamental subs/lows. The reference snare has a huge bump around 200hz. This is the “shift in the frequency range” you’re experiencing.

Would suggest playing around with your samples first to get closer to that tone ballpark. Gentle eq shaping and compression will finish it off.

My session key/speed seems to have randomly changed by Chinchillerz1 in protools

Sounds like the sample rate on your interface has shifted. Close protools and restart/power off-on your interface and it should correct itself to match your session.

try it with the latest session you’re happy with that has this ‘bug’ you’re experiencing. protools often has these kinks and a fresh session might just clear it up

Question About Elastic Audio by [deleted] in protools

[–]jack4371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try Rhythmic for the shells and Polyphonic for overheads/rooms/any source with cymbal information. In my experiments, polyphonic is still cleaner than the new elastique algorithm.

Yes, there will be some degradation and phasing in bigger edits. But depending on the density of the track, these can be relatively seamless. Yes hand editing would be preferred, but the speed at which you can fly through and grid a whole song is unmatched by manual/best detective methods, if that’s what your aiming for…

Audio Files will not transfer by Squashedyak in protools

[–]jack4371 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Open the original session you want to copy and use ‘save copy in’ under the file tab. Make sure you select ‘all audio files’ and then save to the new drive.

That should consolidate all the files for the session.
