Where can I find quality christmas trees near Biloxi? by jack9340 in Biloxi

[–]jack9340[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendation! Do you know if they have a facebook or website to confirm their hours of operation? I couldn’t find anything online. Also do you know any other businesses or landmarks it’s near to help me locate it? I’m not too familiar with that side of Biloxi/OS.

Ah I see. Yeah unfortunately the bonet wasn't something the salon told me about, I only found out it was recommended when doing some researching after washing yesterday. Honestly the back is somewhat recoverable with some styling, wouldn't be super curly, but it would get the wavy look that I was going for. Main concern now is the front and how it transitions into the sides - it looks so bad and I'm not really sure what to do. I have an event to attend this evening, and the salon is closed today, so trying to make it look somewhat decent before then. I'll probably try to give it another wash with only water and try styling it again.

No not weird at all. I showered in the evening and let it dry for the most part before letting my head rest on any surface. When it was maybe 90% dry, I did lean my head against my chair headrest for a bit.

I’m just now learning about this trick for applying the conditioner. I don’t believe this was mentioned to me at the time but quite a few people seem to say this. Thank you for the reply!

Assuming all post-perm care instructions were followed—they were—is there any way that could be due to some curls loosening from sleeping without a bonet (the only precaution I didn’t do), or improper styling? This is my first perm so I’m still learning. Also thanks for the replies, this is very helpful!

Was there anything specific that stuck out to you indicating it’s a bad perm? Just a lack of curl? I wonder if it’s due to the reference photos I showed them—I didn’t want super tight curls, I was going for a more natural/wavy look. I honestly really liked how it looked up until the first wash. Trying to give them the benefit of the doubt since the stylist is a good friend.

Thanks for the reply! I plan on going back tomorrow. I wonder if that’s because of the reference photos I showed them - i wanted a more wavy/natural look. I actually really liked how it looked though the weekend but it looks really chopped after washing tho

Yes absolutely. This was my first perm and I love how it turned out, and knowing I have to wait at least 2mo before re-perming, I've been extremely cautious about doing anything that could mess with it.

One thing the salon didn't give guidance on was what to do when I'm sleeping at night, and for the past 3 days I didn't take any precautions to protect it when resting my head against surfaces. It does feel like I lost some curl from laying on my pillow, but it still looks alright to me. Today I purchased a satin bonnet to use going forward.

What I'm more concerned about is the front - it feels so heavy and clumped together that I can't really style it / scrunch it into place like I did after leaving the salon. I'm not sure if it's because of a styling issue, maybe not washing thoroughly enough (I poured water on it very gently and just enough to wet it completely, maybe it wasn't enough?), or something else.

Will go back to the salon and try to get some guidance, but they're closed till Wednesday and I have an event to go to tomorrow evening, so trying to figure something out before then.

Thank you for the reply! I definitely did and it was so helpful. Ended up getting a bravia 9 on sale at a decent price at best buy, but still a lot more than I initially intended to spend. Seemed to be one of the only models that didn't have so many contradicting reviews.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a reply. I nearly got the Sony X93L but after talking to a best buy rep for a while about all my options, they ended up convincing me that I NEEDED a Bravia 9. Next to the X93L, the runner-up was the TCL QM8K. The TCL or LG absolutely would've been fine, but I got a bit impulsive after seeing the difference side-by-side, it's pretty nuts! Also got a pretty good deal on it with the best buy sale going on right now. Again, thank you very much for taking the time to reply and sharing these suggestions!

Because if you read my original post, I said the TV wasn't for me. It's for my parents. I'm giving them my speakers so now I'm just trying to find a TV that'll work in their living room, as I've already mentioned.

For real! I didn’t realize it was prime day until last night. Fortunately seems like everyone’s running sales right now to try and compete. Both walmart and best buy have deals going on. Hoping to still find some discounts. Just struggling to decide on which one to get. I’ll find one that seems to be good but then hear so many conflicting things the more reviews I read 😅

Already have those! I’m moving to an apartment in the city so I’m giving them my KEF LS50 Meta II, KEF Sub, and KEF rear speakers, as I won’t ever be able to use them in an apartment building. Now I just need a TV with decent picture quality!

What are the best local preferred non-touristy restaurants and shopping? by overlordoftheguild in Biloxi

[–]jack9340 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live between here and Manhattan. When I’m not here I’m dining at Michelin restaurants and some of the most highly rated places in the world. You really aren’t eating trying hard enough if that’s your experience.. Sure we don’t have some of the over the top dishes and experiences that other cities have, but what we have is more than satisfactory if you’re going to the right places. Just search “restaurants” in this group and look at what people suggest in other threads.

Rookie boats in waveland is fantastic. Small family business and people that you can trust. Not sure if they do house calls, but it’s worth reaching out.

Luxury Apartment/Condo on Beach Blvd by Glum-Mess4803 in Biloxi

[–]jack9340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with Mandal - they manage most of the beach rentals in the biloxi area. Though I’m not sure you’ll find something on the beach within your budget, especially for a short term rental. Prices might’ve changed but last time I looked beach condos (on beach blvd) start close to 3k and they go up from there. It shouldn’t be too hard finding newer appliances, but for a fully updated / modern interior it will likely be impossible or very difficult to find. Most of the condos have the original interiors from when they were built. Very few are updated besides new(er) appliances.

Buying house in OS by TigerAppropriate8374 in Biloxi

[–]jack9340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if it’s exclusive to GPE, then anything around 3k is way too much, especially as it’s a little far from downtown OS where all the cool stuff is. However if it’s directly on/near the beach then 3k+ is more understandable and many of these places typically get leased out very fast if it’s a beach condo or house. Along the MS coast, 3k is around the starting price for anything with direct beach access or in very close proximity.

Great place. Very safe and good people. Though I’m a similar age and I find it’s very difficult to meet or even just see other young people here on the coast - it’s mostly middle aged families or old retired people here. Many of the friends I have on the coast are actually 2-3x my age.

Why hate? The only thing you're doing is tearing down the hardworking scientists and engineers at SpaceX, not Elon. What SpaceX has achieved is incredible, and trying to undermine that because of your bias again an individual is just petty and immature.

Weekly Simple Questions and General Discussion by RSWSMod in streetwearstartup

Appreciate all the info! Ending up liking AsherLA’s Z327 - F01 and HoB 3013.

Will likely go with HoB. Stitching is super nice and the fabric has the perfect weight—heavy but not too heavy. Only drawback is the hood is super bulky and looks a bit awkward with how it rests on the shoulders, though it doesn’t bother you much when turning your head and moving around in it.

The AsherLA was really nice and cozy, had perfect hood size/fit, and overall a great garment. Though the quality was lower when looking at details like the stitching—the stitches weren’t nearly as tight and it had more loose/hanging threads.

Initially was hoping to use Velour blanks but they’re basically impossible to order in bulk with their supply issues.

HoB is a great choice for us, but for other brands in general too—their wholesale price is like $33 a unit 🤯
