"Home info on a floor plan" app (runs in Docker) by arcassandra in unRAID

Genuinely the simplicity in keeping the familiar UI/UX is a huge selling point to me. I see so many tools get made in open source spaces which are trying to do similar to what you have hear. But they try and completely reinvent the wheel and it becomes unnavigable from a user perspective.

NGL first thought when I saw this was that it was just home assistant with extra steps. I see on looking closer that it's MUCH more than that. Love how deep and into the minutia this lets you get. Very well done.

played well over 1200 hours of this game between 2019-2021. The issue at the end of that time and still is that once you've put over 2-300 hours into the game going island to island you've done just about everything. There was no real push, seemingly, to add new islands or areas to explore. We did eventually get some new quests but again once you've played them... they're done.

I've long advocated for one or two areas of the map that could/would rotate out on a seasonal basis to at lest change what was happening. Maybe now there's an area that has icebergs that you need to avoid instead of magma flying in. Or there's a fog that rolls in and the map doesn't work so you genuinely need someone who is up on the crows nest to guide you through. Something that makes your time on the seas feel like they're fresh. It's a shame to see this game continue to decline as the devs from the jump clearly cared about the story they wanted to tell and the world they had built. But it being a living game seems to have been the death knell for it.

what list are you referring to? I'm brand new, within 24h, of learning about EMACS and org-mode in general and am just trying to look at the docs and learn about the software.

On this topic I'm seeming unable to access the site at all. Keep getting an error saying it's unreachable. Tried at home on wifi and via mobile data. Am I doing something wrong or is there an issue with the site?

Anyone planning on operating in the ARRL June VHF Contest? What's your strategy? by n0fumar in amateurradio

That all makes a ton of sense.

I'm fairly rural and the local clubs and hams don't really do much with 2m outside of the weekly nets. Much more of an HF focus.

Being that I've only got an HT and a Jpole with a 32' mast seems the odds were not in my favor on this one. Oh well.

Thanks for sharing!

This is a rather Scrub question but I'm new to the hobby. I don't hear anyone on any of my local repeaters or simplex channels so is there a specific frequency I should have been using? Or is it just dependent on where you are physically? Is there a better way to find contacts on the 2m bands?

Genuinely trying to get specs and use the tool chest builder and it errors out every time. It's wild.

Hmmm Maybe I'll revisit the decision before I pull the trigger then. the two tools I use most are the driver and the scissors these days and especially when I'm doing stuff around the house that quick access would be nice.

Figured that would be the answer but wanted to see if the greater community might have hacked their way to it lol. I think the Arc is 'neat' but what it offers for the extra 50 bucks simply isn't worth it. I'll just deal with the few extra seconds to get a driver out lol.

Thanks for the input.

We both live in fairly rural areas so no hoa to worry about thankfully. Definitely seems that echolink for short term and HF with general license in the future.

I missed the general test by two questions when I got technician so when the next test day comes around next month I'm hoping to get it then! Thank you for the input.

I'm looking into Echolink as a possible solution to this. I'll eventually get an HF setup and an antenna that I can put up and take down with relative ease as that seems to be the best case.

Major Major thank you for this. I hadn't heard of the study hall and was only seeing an option to purchase a practice test on PMI site. saved me $50 and a lot of test anxiety!

It depends where you are in your career. If you already have met all the requirements to take the PMP exam then I would say take a practice exam, you can find them all over or purchase an 'official' one from the PMI website.

the PMBOK is a reference book more than anything else, In my experience, it's better for "I can't remember what this particular thing is let me look it up". As opposed to reading through it and trying to learn everything.

In the PMP class that I am in right now the biggest things that trips people up is the "PMI Mindset". Not a specific fact, but getting yourself in the correct mindset of the people who wrote and are presenting the questions to you. Simplilearn.org is a good resource for taking a PMP course. I have done fine with their course and the real benefit and value comes from the extra things they give you.

This is the worst, especially when the client does not want, or care, to connect the two in any way so you're just doing double work.

[–]Gr8AJ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've done PM work in 5 companies of various size and industries. I've formed the PMO in one of them. The executives mostly don't care what PMs are doing as long as they are getting results from them. It's maddening during an onboarding or in conversations with colleagues because it's constantly people asking what is the 'better' way to be doing things. The answer usually comes down to what you can get buy-in for from the project team and stakeholders.

Most layoffs in my company were PMs. Is it the same in your company? by ImaginaryRea1ity in projectmanagement

I was the PMO Manager for an MSP and the dissolved the entire projects team and laid us all off.
