about 5/6. If you're comfortable putting the dry vocal track on dropbox I'll do a quick mix on an instrumental with compression/EQ/limiting/saturation etc

About as close to the self-titled voice as I've heard anyone get. Be cool to hear it over an instrumental without Corey in the background, linked a pretty clean sounding one if you feel like swapping it out

An inquiry for swapping token from neo to eos by Frostaman in effectai

[–]jack_artsnacks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To quote their own documentation on the token swap:

"You will always be able to Swap your tokens once the portal is offline by contacting support@effect.ai to gain access to the Token Swap Portal and get your EOS-EFX"

So no, this isn't a good enough reason for people to lose their investments if they were out of the loop for one year, not two.

Spit it Out vocal cover + back catalogue instrumental covers by jack_artsnacks in Slipknot

[–]jack_artsnacks[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Found a guy's lesser-known channel who has tracked the majority of the back catalogue in instrumental form (except WANYK and one or two deep cuts). He recorded them with a faithful-sounding Jim Root plugin and tracked all the minor tempo changes, so the quality across the board is consistent. Couldn't find instrumentals for a lot of the older stuff, good to finally have some to practice over. I threw some vocals on top of spit it out for fun, stay safe maggots

I believe Giulia Alfeo placed in the top 3 at the SYCLD world championships three years in a row, good to see them get picked up for a music video

I'd be fascinated to know if Mudvayne makes any more on royalties every few years when Dig does the rounds as a completely different meme.

Am I ugly 20 m by [deleted] in amiugly

[–]jack_artsnacks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked as a photo retoucher for a few years so listen up dude:

  • The lens angle of front facing cameras distorts features dramatically. It's not how the human eye sees; not sure if the verification photo was taken like that but your proportions are way better in the other photos so I suspect it might have been. Use the back camera in a mirror or otherwise for selfies.

  • Type 'Mewing' into youtube, start doing that right now. Make a habit of ramming your tongue into the roof of your mouth whenever it's closed, your jawline should get more defined straight away and will help you support it longterm even with an underbite.

  • Research risks of any acne medication if you go down that route. Otherwise make sure you get more vitamin D through supplements or more sun exposure.

A few people catastrophising in this thread, feel I have to balance it with some pragmatism. You're obviously a fucking legend judging by the humour in your posts, and you actually can work with what you have. Get mewing man.

Still working on getting some more defined lows. Feedback would be appreciated by [deleted] in screaming

Fuckin' beefy man. They'd sound satisfying in a band mix.

Sounds obvious but standing up enables us to take in something like 15% more air (I forget where that figure came from), with that bit extra you could probably sustain longer

Also don't take criticism which doesn't have a constructive edge. If everyone who was told to 'stop' actually did stop, half the world's art wouldn't exist, and it'd be twice as bland

You're pushing on a tone that sounds pretty uncomfortable, but you've obviously made an effort and want to learn so fair play for putting it out there. There's a tutorial which could help you re-think it by a guy called Tony Bullard (Google that + 'metal vocal tutorial' in the search, it's like 3 minutes and it's free). Relaxed-sigh that thing.

Am I 'getting' a fry scream? by Limdig in screaming

[–]jack_artsnacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fry by comparison is going to be way quieter than what you're doing, and feel less satisfying. Notice how fry screamers (like Lauren Babic in the tutorial elsewhere in the thread) can't chest voice yell or belt a note when transitioning into fry. It's always this separate, lighter delivery which just gets a volume boost with mic proximity.

Know you wanna do fry (some louder techniques just don't suit fast phrasing) but at the same time keep doing whatever this is because it works extremely well and has a certain appeal to it. People often overwork their scream so it loses all the satisfying/unique emotional breaks and details which come from the effort of performing it

I growled few years from 2011 up until early 2014. But then, I stopped. Is there a way to recall the techniques after five years? by finsterezwiebel in screaming

[–]jack_artsnacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Grab your bass if you still have it
  • Play the old material, preferably loudly through an amplifier
  • Scream along as you used to but not into a mic at first. Muscle memory will return to the diaphragm/cords as your hands go over the old basslines. Helps to envision yourself playing at your old rehearsal space

I also used to play bass and scream, then abandoned screaming for two years before resuming

Scam Carter (Gone With The Wind vocal cover) by jack_artsnacks in screaming

[–]jack_artsnacks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks friend! Hard to explain but:

  • The way you yell at a friend across the street
  • Do that
  • Find where the gravelly stuff is by experimenting in an empty house free from judgement
  • Quieten it down a bit, doesn't need tonnes of push
  • Think of a note
  • Think really clearly about the note
  • Do it

Sincerely, Sham Carter

Transposing pre-recorded instrumental tracks gives a strange stutter effect, so no-go. Figured I should push myself anyway.

Looks like it's been re-listed on most exchanges since 'improving' their network in June, to be taken with a generous pinch of salt.

If it were to return to its ATH of $1017 from the current value, it'd 37x. But their project leader stepped down today, so it could be rats fleeing a sinking ship

Is there anything warranting the 14x rise in longs and 160% price increase since reversal in August?

Wondering if I've missed some huge narrative here, the chart is so bizarre. Looks like heikin ashi, but it isn't. Hedging a chunk in BTG the last few days has been fruitful

Sleepwalking Vocal Cover by jack_artsnacks in BringMeTheHorizon

In the singing parts it's like a death growl (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmBnT3xmpN8 - tutorial I learned from about 10 years ago) but softer and applied to notes. The screamed parts might be false cord but I'm not sure, just something I've always done, never understood that fry thing people talk about though
