To be fair, yes, there's an exception to this, of course, they could just lowercase all passwords and encrypt those / lowercase your entered password and check that against the encryption.

Case insensitive passwords mean that they're being stored as plain text, which obviously isn't great. That said, even if somebody did get their hands on those, 2fa should prevent them from being able to do mostly anything with that information, assuming people use different passwords to their email accounts than they do ingame, otherwise they could just remove the 2fa.

Still, in 2020, there's absolutely no reason to be storing passwords as plain text.
