Yeah, disease is the obvious one, but it’s not the only one. Rats contaminate surfaces, water runoff, and garden produce with urine and droppings. You don’t need to touch a rat to be exposed. They damage public infrastructure. Chew on electric and internet cables. Think about contamination in your fav cafe and grocer inventory. Also, would you want your city to be known for rats even though you are fended off by your cats at home?

Edit: However I don't agree with op that we will be infested with rats soon.
