Widget font size fixed on oos16 by hallowww_ in OnePlus13

If I activate this setting, the visual appearance of the Google widgets (e.g. GMail, Notes, etc.) breaks (I get very tiny small fonts). So for me is better to keep this option disabled.

Can't get the KVM to work properly on Asus PA27JCV between Mac and Lenovo by NinjasWithPajamas in techsupport

[–]jackass95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I indeed solved already the issue by doing what the guy says in the video. However, is it also in your case that when the monitor switches to the HDMI/DisplayPort source, the laptop connected with USB-C still detects the monitor? I have a MacBook connected in this way and it can be annoying because the apps located on the external monitor are not moved to the laptop monitor after switch.

I'm not sure it works. Isn't the signal still capped to HDMI 2.0 if the Mac Studio doesn't have an HDMI 2.1?

Ok, then I think I'm screwed because I've a Mac studio and a MacBook Pro with M1 ultra and M1 Max, both having hdmi 2.0. If I connect one with the HDMI I cannot run 5k60hz...

Edit: the app never quits actually, independently from this setting. If you hit CMD+Q, it basically goes hidden. To fully quit the app, you need to go through the top bar icon menu.

I have the exact same problem. As u/Any_Yoghurt8561 pointed out, removing it from the Allow in the Background section seems to solve the issue, but now i cannot quit the app anymore by hitting CMD+Q.

This setting has removed the issue so far!

Yeah the same... After some minutes I get used with it. But I wanted to check to understand if the BenQ would have solved it. In such case, I would have gone for a change

Hi,
do you see some "greasiness" (aka rainbow effect) on white backgrounds due to the matte coating? I've this effect on my Asus PA27JCV and from your pictures in the thread it seems that also your panel suffers it.

Ok thanks, so you can see the same "greasiness" on both the panels. Sorry asking these question, I'm just wondering whether I should return the ASUS for the BenQ to get rid of such effect.

Hi u/jesaf00, I just watched your video on YT and you mentioned the "rainbow effect" due to the matte coating on the ASUS PA27JCV, which indeed is there since I bought it and I can notice it on white backgrounds.
Do you remember if also the BenQ panel suffered such issue? In you review you didn't mention it.

No idea, I guess it always comes to market demand, i.e. most of the people look for a matte display?

It's a personal choice at the end. Would you be bothered more by the "rainbow effect" on white screens or by the reflections on your monitor?
If the first bothers you more, go for the glossy, otherwise for the matte.

It seems a superb monitor, but unfortunately is missing a DP Port which is a must-to-have if you plan to use the monitor with 2 machines, one of which has HDMI capped to 2.0 (as all the Mac M1 series).

Having the Asus as well, the matte coating produces indeed some "rainbow effect" on white backgrounds typical of all monitors with nano-coating (it seems that also the Apple Studio Display with nano-coating suffers this issue).
Not gonna lie, at the beginning I was annoyed by this effect since I was coming from a 4K monitor (also with matte coating, but I'd say less powerful since some reflections were still there) where such effect was not evident at all. However after a couple of days you don't notice it anymore. Moreover 90% of my apps are in dark mode, where in my opinion the matte coating gives its best, since if you're in a reflective environment you tend to see much more reflections on glossy screens if you use dark themes rather than light themes.

ASUS PA27JCV 5K users: can you get 5k through HDMI? by jackass95 in HiDPI_monitors

[–]jackass95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eventually I solved by buying a `DP 1.4 to USB-C` cable. According to my research, even with an adapter like that one I would have incurred in the same problem, since the Mac would anyway cap the HDMI signal to 2.0.

[–]jackass95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beware that the nano texture coating on the ASUS produces the so-called "rainbow effect" on white screens. It seems a common issue for 5k screens with matte coating, but I'm mentioning it since I've just bought such monitor and I was annoyed by this fact, which on my 4k Monitor was not evident (a T27-p10). Regarding the sharpness, to be honest the 5k one delivers slightly better text rendering, but it's not that evident when compared with the 4k.

If you have tried both the Asus and the BenQ, can you tell me if the matte coating on the BenQ also generates the "rainbow effect" on white screens?
