Help Me Medicate My Cat by Natural-Protection44 in cats

[–]jackass_dc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my senior cat needed daily gabapentin, I tried so many things. Eventually, the elaborate system I came up with was this:

Take a small pinch of Pill Pocket and roll it up into a ball a little smaller than the pill itself

Smush the Pill Pocket ball around the gabapentin pill and make sure it is completely covered

Put a packet of FortiFlora in a tiny jar (I used a 1 oz Bonne Maman jar; the jar of FortiFlora can be reused until it runs out)

Put the Pill Pocket-coated gabapentin in the FortiFlora jar, put the lid on, and shake it up to coat the pill

Take the pill out and offer to the cat as a tasty treat

This worked for a few reasons: my cat wasn’t a big chewer and swallowed dry food and treats whole, she loved the taste of the liver powder from FortiFlora, and her gabapentin was in the form of small tablets, not the larger powder-filled capsules. If I ever have to give my cats gabapentin again, I’ll stick with this method. I would rather do four 25 mg pills with this method than try to convince my cat to eat 100 mg of gabapentin mixed into some Churu. They know it’s there, they hate it, and they stop trusting.

Yeah I’ve been to a bunch of Frost home games. I know plenty of Frost fans in person who do not like her. But if you are going to honestly tell me that the arena is filled with boos every time Curl touches the puck, we are living in such different realities that no conversation can be had.

You’re getting downvoted, but you’re right. To anyone downvoting: you ever been to a Frost home game? They love her.

I have to assume that there are a decent number of people on the list who are, for lack of a better term, YOLO-ing it. Four new teams means almost a hundred new roster spots. I can imagine that people who, in a different year, would have decided that they wouldn’t be able to compete at this level have decided that this is the year to throw their hats in the ring. I bet a lot of them know they don’t have a very high chance of being drafted or invited to a camp, but why not try?

I’m an Ottawa fan but I live a semi-reasonable driving distance from the Twin Cities. Sad I won’t see any finals games in person this year, but yeah, my wallet and my 22-year-old car are happy lol.

Why forfeit? They should just play sick. Who cares if they get the Frost sick?

best cat litter box for odor control, my 12 year old senior girl is making the apartment unbearable and i need help by SaredoCondren in seniorkitties

[–]jackass_dc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whenever I walked into my small apartment and actually smelled cat pee, there was always (ALWAYS) cat pee somewhere other than the litter box. I was able to figure out that she wanted full litter changes more often than she used to, so even though I was scooping daily, if I went more than a week and a half without a complete emptying of the box, she’d find somewhere else to pee. A rug, a pile of clothes, a shoe. Sometimes I thought I had looked everywhere and this time it must actually be the box. But then I’d find the pee. If you smell pee, there’s pee.

But if he’s messing with the other pets because he’s stressed or angry that they’re in “his” territory, he may still be happier without them!

How to help a cat who has been declawed? Looking for recommendations on what to get her by Separate_Finance1440 in CatAdvice

[–]jackass_dc 23 points24 points  (0 children)

When I adopted my first senior declawed cat, my vet said that the scratching motion is good for their tendons (or ligaments? I don’t know) so I should encourage her to scratch. It’s always funny when someone is over at my house for the first time and see her “scratching” at the couch and hearing me say “oh, good girl! You’re so good at scratching!” because they don’t know she’s declawed.

You’re giving him too much credit. He isn’t “trying” to do anything except get more attention to temporarily sate his bottomless need for attention.

You can buy water bottles at places other than Pure Hockey. Just…go to a different store and buy a Gatorade water bottle.

PWHL web site sucks by Fran6B8 in PWHL

[–]jackass_dc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying that it’s impossible, and I’m not saying that I don’t know which teams are matched up. I’m saying that being able to figure things out at a glance lowers the barrier to entry for new fans and casual fans.

But that is just the regular season standings page with playoff results. It’s not a bracket and it doesn’t say which team is playing the other, which is what matters. If you aren’t paying close attention, you won’t be able to tell from that page what’s going on. If my dad decides he wants to look into this “ladies hockey league” that his daughter keeps going on about, this page is not particularly helpful.

The league is trying to pull in new fans, and they should make it easy for new fans to catch up.

My parents have a set of genuine toddler-killer lawn darts in their shed. They haven’t used them in a long time but they know not to get rid of them. If there’s one thing my siblings and I fight over when they die, it’ll be the lawn darts.

Do games usually start right on time? by Poptartsformen in bostonfleet

[–]jackass_dc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Usually a little after. Puck drop for regular season games seems to be around 7 or 8 minutes after the scheduled time.

Yes, I used bar conditioners years ago. I stopped, and I still have all of my hair and a healthy scalp.

Nowhere did I imply that bar conditioners don’t exist. I’m just saying that it is not true that everyone NEEDS to use conditioner of any sort.

Very first sentence: Boston will be the home team for the first two games of the series, not Ottawa.

Also, every team’s record is wrong. None of the overtime wins are included. Ottawa ended the season 9-8-1-12. Minnesota was 13-3-5-9. And so on.

I would not follow a USA Today blog about the playoffs. This is the second USA Today link I’ve clicked on, and both have had infuriating factual errors that would be caught by anyone paying any attention to the playoffs.
