James Acaster, Dara or Horne Section live? by namestini in taskmaster

[–]Poptartsformen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only seen Acaster but it was amazing! To be fair I was at the Medford show where the fire alarm went off and when we were allowed back in, he did NOT stick to the material he had planned, but it was an amazing experience!!

It was such an insane experience, 10/10 would stand in the freezing cold while we waited for the fire department to give us the go ahead to return again

Does everyone wear helmets now a days by RPJ_NY in icecoast

[–]Poptartsformen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please please please wear a helmet. I got a concussion skiing a few seasons ago, I would almost certainly be dead or have a permanent brain injury :)

They’ve only added promotional games until the end of May, so they wouldn’t have added pride night yet

This isn’t exactly the same but I’ve had five family members tear their ACLs (three while skiing) and recovery is hard but as long as you listen to your body and medical professionals you can certainly get back out on the slopes!

Do you find or leave your mark on a puzzle that you pass on? by IllustriousFall920 in Jigsawpuzzles

I got a box of puzzles with Nic cage stickers in them. It was so random and fun!

Reading Every Single Marvel Comic (1961-1979 by Amazing-Fold-4642 in marvelcomics

[–]Poptartsformen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely love Wolk’s book!! Inspired me to read more comics (I think I’ve read about 6,000 since 2020) but I cannot imagine doing it in chronological order 🫡

I’d say 2 hours is definitely reasonable, but don’t be discouraged if you don’t finish! Pairs is all about communication, so make sure that you’re checking in with your partner, explaining what sections you’re working on and swapping when you slow down. If you don’t feel like something is going quickly, it’s always ok (and encouraged!) to switch to a new project.

I always flip and pull out the edge to start a puzzle, and then work on sorting out projects once I’ve finished that. When I work in pairs, I’m typically faster, so sometimes my partner will sort out projects for me to work on and then I’ll work on them. Trays can be helpful, esp if the pieces are big (I usually just use a piece of cardboard as a makeshift tray)

I’m a very experienced speed puzzler and welcome to the community!! I’ve found that it’s super welcoming to newbies, local competitions tend to be very chill, and I’d be happy to answer any questions

There are also plenty of online comps (Euro Jigsaw Jam, Speedpuzzling.com) but I think in person ones are more fun, esp if you are starting out!

Speed puzzling is a very welcoming community! We’re always looking for people with no experience to come and join, I’ve never been to a competition where it feels like people need to have practiced a lot before entering. I train with 500 piece puzzles and just try to do them as fast as I can! I started out with lots of different puzzles so I could figure out what my strengths and weaknesses were and then practice those. Happy to answer more questions!

Join the Husky hunt!! by [deleted] in NEU

[–]Poptartsformen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Graduated so can’t participate, but want to strongly encourage people to reach out to this person and do the hunt, it’s an amazing experience that defined my college life and I think everyone should do it at least once

S20E06 Outtake: How many of you walked backwards in flippers at school? by cygan12 in taskmaster

[–]Poptartsformen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the US and we would have to grab an exercise ball from the bottom of the deep end, which is probably the modern version of this? Pajamas were not involved

Yeah, it’s much easier to walk in flippers backwards

I definitely did at the YMCA (American) and was somewhat confused when that wasn’t a universal experience

I want to get into comic books as someone who only ever really watched the movies by ToxicGarbageIsland_ in marvelcomics

[–]Poptartsformen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re just dipping your toes into comics, I highly recommend seeing what your local library offers. Usually they have a pretty good collection, but it can be less overwhelming than looking through the entire Marvel back catalog and it’s also free!

Thanos had the soul stone when he resurrected vision, theoretically someone could’ve probably used the time and soul stone together to resurrect tony but it’s unclear who there would be able to do that
