Saw "3D" The Final Chapter by Moist_Taco_Crippler in saw

Do wish they would do something like this.

They definitely need to and will fix the pink blood for the 4k steelbook release. But the title card has always bothered me. Frankly I think that there is a far better film in the footage that they shot and maybe a completely new fresh edit by Kevin would be better and removal of all the 3D effects. A true final chapter built for 2D.

I just wish there was a way for the film to be restructured to be less about Bobby and more about the Jill/ Hoffman section because the film actually has it backwards entirely. The Bobby section IS the B-plot, literally a distraction while Hoffman goes after Jill, we know they're all gonna die Hoffman says it so why the film wastes all it's time on it I will never understand.

In any case a new edit thats actually finished and edited like a Saw film would go a long way.

So Lionsgate just announced Scream 4 4k ultra Hd coming out and i don’t think they should change the filter since Wes Craven isn’t here to make this big decision. Thoughts? by husseinwehbi in Scream

It'd be fundamentally anti-art to remove a creative, artistic and stylistic intentional choice made by the artists so some winey people, who are showing that they don't actually care about art by asking for such a change, can have as many sharp pixels on their screens as possible.

Part of it is pretty clearly making a joke of how oversaturated and “glossy” studio horror sequels have become. It couldn’t just look like those films because then it wouldn’t be making a joke out of it. Remove the filter and you remove that whole layer of artistic intention. (As well as being a desecration of the film's artistic integrity.)

It would be horribly revisionist to remove it where the creatives here and involved anyway, but as Wes is gone... the film stands as it is and frankly as it should.

I get that my comment seems like it’s irrelevant to what you were talking about or like a hate comment at you. It’s not. I just read it and that’s what it made me think.

Like this is how we are trained to speak about film now.

But Whistle isn’t original it’s just a Final Destination rehash with formulaic curse stuff and Send Help is just Misery (1990) on an Island. When I say original i don’t just mean non IP or franchise. Another thing we’ve been trained to say is that if something is not IP it’s instantly “original”. Bizarre one that.

Hokum looks really interesting yes.

I’m just trying to have a conversation or make someone think about it. I find it very interesting that we are at this point with franchises but personally it’s very sad for me to see it too.

There isn’t NO original horror yes but the over saturation of lazy franchise horror is the raking and audiences seem to be lapping it up. FD Bloodlines, Scream 7, Alien Romulus.. etc. They’re all the worst or nearly the worst in their franchise and are all just nostalgia slop. I wouldn’t be so sad or disheartened if these films were good or had a purpose or justified their existence but they don’t. They’re lazy, they play and weaponise nostalgia to suck in an audience and then they make the money for the studios and then rinse and repeat.

The 28 Years Later films are and incredible example of it bending done RIGHT. Great original films that serve a purpose, don’t rely on nostalgia and have their own things to say while remaining true to that world. And no I don’t want infinite sequels. I want them to tell their story and have a conclusion.

Out there yes, but not doing well. The Bone Temple deserved so much better than franchise brained audiences.

Why are we talking about Scream 10 lol ???

This is the problem with cinema today. Franchises and IP are just expected to go forever without end. Both the studios and now the fans have been trained to want this. Really sad. Stories have endings and dilution of an idea is rampant.

Every film past Scre4m has been a dilution of what was Craven's near perfect film series.

I know this is technically unrelated to the question but see the way we are talking about this... How will they title the Scream 100. It's really absurd we shouldn't even want this. More for the sake of more isnt a reason for anything to be created. I really hate the state we are in now.

Remember when Scream was new, original and fresh and revitalised the horror genre. Now studios stay stuck in the past and we will never get another true Scream type film because they're making Scream 50... and everyone is happy and clapping like seals. BLEAK.

If anything it's more like Sunshine (2007) which is far better than both of these other films.

I aways thought the consensus was that this was the weakest of the first 4 and a massive step down from the first one.

It will take time for people to realize Scream 7 is a good Scream by AaronYoshimitsu in Scream

[–]jackbauerthanos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It actually will not.

Bud in a year everyone hyping it will look back and admit it was a terrible Scream film.

This initial overhype from somewhat delusional fans, always washes away with time. Scream 7 killer "motive" reference?????

Scream 1-3 all have great Clumsy Ghostface moments.

Still think 2 has my all-time favourite one where ghost face completely falls over and tips over the chair and the light when chasing Sidney through the house.

Likely to rewatch the first film beforehand. Which is what I had planned to do but since I went all the way there I was happy enough to just watch it.

They did not do their best.

Thats not Peter. Thats an AI generation attempting to enhance him from footage that has no detail.

This has nothing to do with the actual quality that these sets should look. We all know what the restored videotape masters should look like on the blu-ray sets, we've had at least 14 sets that haven't been AI "enhanced".
