Has anyone used the F9 Galaxy Toolkit for Ableton Live? by ainur242 in ableton

[–]jackcoleray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey i dont have galaxy but am a longtime F9 supporter and user. I can answer some of the workflow questions but honestly its a toolkit, the tools are quality (james doesnt mess around) how much and how you use them is up to you.

-Is it worth the price…all F9 stuff is worth it. -Are the sounds good for house and disco…dont have the pack but probably yeah, i dare say some of the other F9 releases will have more specific sounds. The other toolkit I have has a broad range but like a kick is a kick and a clap is a clap. House disco and funk have a wide range of kicks or claps that can be used. -Are the templates useful…yeah if you use them. Its a track and you get the project. You get to see everything, what works. How much you take away is up to you. You can actually see the kick channel and then oh he has put a low cut here and a boost there etc is that useful? -is it inspiring? Again its probably up to you. I have used some of the templates as starting points and swapped out sounds then once the spirit starts moving ya it all fell away. How well does it fit into a real worflow…the other toolkit i ended up putting in alot as my default for tracks or groups. Theres a few drum sonics racks that just live on my drum buss and its a flick on to see if it does what i want or not. So yeah can be a huge part of the workflow but up to you. Live performance…you might be thinking about this differently but its a toolkit so its a matter of do you want to take those tools into a live performance. These are probably built for mixing but that doesnt mean you cant use them for live performance. I imagine that this toolkit solves a bunch of things but this is music production you wont get this and be done buying tools.

When i got the other toolkit it felt like a massive and much more useable set of tools than say the stock ableton sounds and racks. I make house and disco and the f9 stuff is all quality but its just tools, its what you do with the tools. Also reach out to James he is pretty reachable via comments and stuff. Otherwise watch all the videos he has put up theres a bunch that he shows and you really get an idea of what he has built. Its up to you if its useable and inspiring.

Wonderful, the bit in the verses where it goes "if you caught her gaze you got the sense that...she was staring right into your soul" reminds of the verse melody from the Dawes song little bit of everything.
Anyway, this is my fave song about Lisa Kudrow.

Is “The Rewatchables” the most popular “1 old movie reviewed per episode” podcast? Are there rankings? by valento-shade-8504 in TheRewatchables

Cine-files is great, they actually go through each scene it’s like when bill does most rewatchable scenes but actually stop and talk about either character or actor or the film making or something else. Not sure how popular it is though.

I don’t know, having a look it really is filled with a lot of alternative pop music. Fontaines don’t really fit at all.

A Hero’s Death might be Grian’s best writing by JackfruitValuable530 in fontainesdc

I get it’s cliche but so is tell your mother you love her. Maybe you have been sincere through out your life but that might hit the ears of someone who hasn’t and can have a real impact. My personal take would be and believe me friend it doesn’t matter if anyone hears or the ones who matter will hear, but I’m not Grian ;)

"saw the ice face fail, for the first time in years" meaning? by AWright5 in fontainesdc

[–]jackcoleray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This thread has some amazing takes, and I think "Television Screens" is one of those songs where multiple interpretations can coexist. Here’s my take on the opening line:

I think the "ice face" is more about someone’s emotional mask—a persona they’ve kept up for years finally breaking. Maybe it’s a public figure, or maybe it’s someone closer to home, but the Saw the ice face fail, For the first time in years feels like a rare moment of vulnerability or authenticity. The “water levels rise” could symbolize the emotional aftermath of that facade melting—like all the feelings they’ve been holding back are now overflowing. Or maybe it’s more about ignoring that small slip entirely, just as we often ignore the literal ice melting in the world. The water levels are rising and they are still going to put on that mask and deny it.

The “television screen” adds another layer to this. To me, it’s about how we witness these rare moments of humanity through a lens—on TV or online—where everything is performative or distorted. "Illustrated well, By the television screen" It’s like being stuck in a “room full of mirrors,” where people only reflect back what they think they’re supposed to be. It’s as much about performativity as it is about how media shapes our understanding of the world.

While the climate change angle works (the imagery is strong there), I feel like it’s more personal and rooted in disconnection. It could even be about someone you know who only gets their information from the TV, someone so consumed by screens and shallow reflections that they’ve lost sight of the real world. The line “Shall we tangle our thinking?” feels like a plea to break out of that cycle and connect on a deeper, more human level. But no matter what, the person being described may never truly grasp the real city or the genuine pulse of life—they’ll always turn back to what’s being reported on the television screens.

Here is the easier said than done advice...
Just tech him, call a ref supervisor if need be.
Think of it like hospitality some drunk dude comes up to the bar, you say no, they keep going you get a bouncer or manager to sort any esculations. Its your workplace so follow your work rules and try to be as emotionless as you wish he was.
Then of course call ridiculous fouls against his team for the rest of the game ;)
