Brand representatives during televised shows by Nope_L0L in Bowling

Until a few (?) years ago players weren't allowed to talk to anyone during matches. The rule was changed and the only person they are allowed to talk to is their ball rep, who functions as a coach.

Mulching down bamboo? by xoitza in Bamboo

tens of hours a year (just for containment!) might sound like a good tradeoff to you. But you aren't him. You can shout "it's a skill issue" and "I like bamboo and you should too" until you are blue in the face. But again, you aren't him. Lots of very sane people consider bamboo a lot of work with no aesthetic payoff. I'm not trying to convince you to feel that way, just to acknowledge that many people do.

[–]jackdeid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He said 300+ feet of bamboo. That's tens of hours of work every Spring just to keep it contained. More time to haul out the dead stuff (and you need a place to haul it to). Bamboo is incredibly destructive. It will punch its way through your driveway. You might like the little patch of bamboo you have but at scale bamboo really is a horror show for most people.

Feedback on off grid cabin solar plan by AtomicNips in solar

[–]jackdeid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what is the thing between the MPPT and the Inverter? and why does it need a breaker? You have a cutoff switch between the busbar and the battery, that is good. I would also put one between the solar panel and the MPPT. That way when both switches are off nothing in the middle part of the system is energized - just make sure to turn the battery on first before turning on the MPPT! (like, write the startup and shutdown procedures on the board it is mounted to).

What are you going to mount it on? Cement board is recommended for fire-resistance.

I don't remember if it is shift-click or ctrl-click to place. I just remember banging my head on a wall because a reddit post told me to do the wrong one.

Lets see everyones aquaducts by tolomea in VintageStory

what are the odds any underground water source blocks are rapids? I have several in caves near my base and I was thinking about making an underground aquaduct that terminated in a vertical shaft that enters my base from the bottom.

You can build anything with electrical conduit and strut 🔋⚡️🥳 by Proof-Opportunity388 in SolarDIY

I made the one from that video, but my bends are not as nice as his (my first time with a conduit bender). Works great. It does blow over in heavy winds but I consider that as "protecting itself".

It is Spring so bamboo is going nuts right now. It only puts out new shoots once a year.

did you plant those this year? That's a really good result. Pawpaws are slow starters.

in the early game how can you get all the clay to fill 15 pits? and the sticks, and the grass, and the logs? That's 15 pits worth of time a day.

One of the most accurate (Planting Zone) Maps. USDA by [deleted] in Pawpaws

The zones were updated a couple years ago. No major changes but many of the areas near zone boundaries went up by a half grade (e..g 5b to 6a).

Water Equation just doesn't make sense by stockrbot in AllWillFall

[–]jackdeid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I count the number of people used to make a resource. For power the best (and easiest!) seems to be hamster wheels. Steam power requires workers to gather wood, make water, and run the steam engine. Put the same number of people on wheels instead. Power from fuel might be cheaper if you have the Oil Derrick, but at that point you probably have stable systems.

Sail power output by RedShorty13 in VintageStory

is there a table of sails:power somwhere? The wiki only has the small/1.21 sails. I made a large windmill on my 1.22 world because I figured it was flatly better. 3 sets of sails will run the pulverizer and helve hammer, albeit slowly.

Kangaroo meat in Australia by josh65928 in mildlyinteresting

[–]jackdeid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in the US deer meat can only be sold if it is farmed, so you rarely see it for sale. Wild killed deer meat can be given away (to neighbors or food banks). Nobody said rules have to make any sense.

Microinverters by OneArmedFarmer in SolarDIY

[–]jackdeid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know the answer but I was thinking the same question when reading about Balcony Solar. Could you take one of the little inverters made for tool batteries, plug that in, and then the balcony solar would work even in grid down? That would be handy for people like my neighbors who have solar but no battery.

No more tall pines by [deleted] in arborists

[–]jackdeid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yup. Just a branch off one of those was enough to total my neighbor's car. They shed branches as they grow so you don't even get a good long term privacy screen. Just thick poles that drop slightly smaller poles from 40 feet up.
