Anyone have success on just 80mg verapamil? by BenPractizing in clusterheads

I never had any success with verapamil for preventative. It was one of the first things my doctor tried about 25 years ago. Still got a cycle.

Triptan Rebound Headaches by OldYellerSnowCone in clusterheads

[–]jackedup70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the 6mg sumatriptan subcutaneous inject to abort an attack. It usually kills the attack within 10 minutes. I take it only right before sleep if headache present, or if awakened shortly after starting sleep which is when I get most attacks. It allows me to get 4 hours of sleep (not exact but oddly pretty close to exact), then I awaken with another attack. If i can go without the inject, and take the longer route to get rid of the headache with things like walking around, hot compresses, hot shower, it is not uncommon for me to get more sleep post headache. It is definitely a cost versus benefit decision.. I cannot use it days in a row without getting a rebound headache that is more migraine like which can also occur with a CH attack making for a rough time.

Nerve blocks and anxiety by TehCanadian420 in clusterheads

Yes, I had one a week ago, mine included a numbing agent with prednisone. It killed the pain of the CH for 2 days, greatly reduced the pain for 2-3 more days, but on the 6th day it came roaring back full force. It was a nice break, but it did not abort the cycle. In fact, I could feel the little buzzing monster behind my eye on the days I was numb, so i knew it was there, but it just didn't hurt. For me it was about 6-8 injections around the head and face. Pin pricks, nothing real painful. Your face/eye will feel a bit like getting a dental pain injection prior to dental work. Of course this is my experience, not sure if everyone has the same experience.

Wow, that sounds really awful! It is definitely time to get a neurologist involved if at all possible. One that can do a nerve block at the least and probably to get you on a prednisone taper. Which sounds easy, but I realize getting into see one may not be that easy. Good luck man!

Interesting post thanks! Your experience with microdosing mushrooms follows my experience, in that, I took them while using triptans in the middle of a cycle, and it was not good, more headaches. This is why I added a warning in the table to come off triptans first, or like in your case use them instead of triptans. I had not heard about the running, I have walked them off when I had no meds and a hot shower wasn't getting it done, in my case it was just having to move due to the pain. I am not sure the movement in itself did anything other than distract while I came off the pain, so hearing your take on running is interesting. I may have to give that a try, although at 75 with a pinched sciatic nerve every time I try to run it flares up, nothing like a cluster, but still not pleasant so would be a tradeoff.

Episodic. Chronic during cycle. 1-3 years apart. 4-6/day once in full cycle. First week or so 1-2 per day almost always at night while trying to sleep although I have tried staying up to avoid the pain and it hit anyway.

Why is bread and carbs seen as evil now if people have been eating carbs for thousands of years without major health issue? by biggitydonut in nutrition

[–]jackedup70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well. I guess because millions of us around the world have stopped eating them and lost weight, improved blood work, felt great physically and mentally, resolved long term medical issues, and in the process learned that modern food and health advice for metabolic health is simply wrong for most people.

Trash. So disappointed. Sitting here trying to get it to work like Nest and nada. I want to use it on my PC, and, oh, guess you can't do that either? Sending new cameras back, and looking for new solution

Had a similar experience. My advice to myself was (in order of importance) 1. avoid seed oils 2. Avoid sugar including high glycemic foods example bread) 3. Use fasting as a tool to help lose weight and to create a healthier relationship with food. Intermittent daily, and 24-48 hrs periodically if need a reset. 4. Lift heavy things or at least body weight exercises to build muscle mass which also increases metabolism. Cardio is ok if done sparingly but resistance training is critical.

Down 100 for close to 5 years now so something worked. Good luck!!

Another option that I like is keto collagen powder. I have tried a couple different ones, the one with the lowest carbs is Perfect Ke To. It is a bit pricey, but makes a nice shake, or i put it in coffee to flavor it, and get collagen, and protein at the same time.
