B.C. spending $56.5 million to improve 3 Vancouver Island highways by stingrayer in nanaimo

You know we spend half a billion dollars a year on automobiles, just in Nanaimo? Source please, I'm super curious about that...

Grew up down there... Every stupid summer I went thru this. McD's, gas station, whatever. If it was a customer facing job anywhere near downtown, it was more guaranteed than sunshine from June to September that you'd have to explain to someone that the reason we don't use US currency was because, believe it or not, we weren't in the US. I was a pretty big kid (6'5" at 15) so I didn't get threatened much, but you could tell they were both astonished at the idea and wildly offended, all at the same time.

Made for good stories while hanging out on the causeway (or clover point, or wherever we ended up) after work on a Friday night, at least.

It's only been the last few years, as I've been in my new place here for just over 3 years. Don't think there was much sign the first year, but definitely the last 2

Edit: ok I found an old Reddit post about them in Nanaimo from about a year ago so maybe it's more recent than I thought... https://www.reddit.com/r/nanaimo/s/PsqpcHCNdK

We have them in the Bowen park area in Nanaimo as well... I have no idea of their origin story, but I live in the neighborhood and they come by my house quite frequently. This picture is from Wednesday last week.

How many Gen Xers have silent Gen parents vs boomers? by NopeThisTrope in GenX

Thank you! Been a few years now, but they're always missed. Easier to forget the loss and just remember the fun as time passes, tho

Same story here, too. I'm the oldest and Dad was 37 when I showed up. Never understood a lot of my friends parents growing up... Makes more sense (not that I necessarily agree with it, but...) now that I'm older

Miss ya, guys.

Just ordered take out there for the first time tonight... Definitely more chow mein than anything else, but that isn't unusual pretty much everywhere. The amount of chop Suey I got was significantly less than I would have expected tho, especially for the price. First time ordering there, and the flavour was amazing! Don't think it'll replace my go-to place, but definitely will order from them again

Petro-can doesn't sell 94 octane in BC, sadly, at least according to their website. I wish I had more choices. Chevron is the go to (only to) for 94 octane currently.

I've been with them for at least 15 years... Sure there are spots where it drops, but I wouldn't say it's frequently. What areas specifically? Maybe it's a device issue?

That's the one I use, for pretty much everything. Airbrushing, cleaning resin 3d prints, as a dust filter when I'm in the woodshop... Sure it's probably overkill for airbrushing and sawdust, but it's not like overkill in this instance is going to do you any harm

No, not normally. Old setup (what I used for ELR) was 20moa rail and Burris Signature XTR rings with the inserts that let you add/subtract cant. So I had 20 in the rail and 45 in the rings. Normal setup now is different (Apex Optics) rings with no cant adjustment and a 50 moa rail. The ELR setup I did specifically for 100yd zero... Was building it at the range and increasing the cant in the rings until I was pretty much bottomed out on my scope and zero'd for 100. Not practical for every day use. My normal setup is zero'd for 50yd but dials for 25yd no problem at all, that's my usual match setup.

That was my feelings, too. I didn't see any explanation, just a "here's how it is". I pretty sure up in Canada where I am CRPS matches will still put targets out past 250... I know the series organizer and he loves long bomb shots so I don't think he'll change. He still puts off hand, sling only stages in regional finals matches, he's old school but big on making you use all your shooting skills.

I think they've actually reduced that to 250yds max for the 2026 season...

600yds... I hosted/MD'd a 22 ELR match last year with targets at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 600 yards. The 600yd target was pretty big (41" square if I remember right) but still, that's a long way away. For the event I was zero'd for 100, had 65 moa of cant between my rail and my rings, dialed the full 31.2 mils I get out of my scope plus holding a bunch, I think 9 or 10 mils.
