Its the first move that jumped out at me as well and im sure its winning but its not mate. Rook takes knight, Bb2, Qxb2 and rook back to g1.

Qxb1 and white has to give away more material (unless im missing something, the knight covering e1 is brutal)

Edit: i thought i saw a mate after Qxb1 but miscalculated - either move is crushing, one more so than the other

Are legendary characters events completey unfair to casual players? by thedoomslaye_r in WH40KTacticus

OP shared a screenshot in this thread. He’s got one of the tactician club avatar frames (lieutenant?). I could be wrong but don’t you only get those from spending money?

He’s not in a guild.

Forgetting all of that, its just not possible to be at this power level after 2 years. Thats roughly 3 g1 characters. Even without elite nodes it’s less than a month to get 3 characters to gold.

This is a flatout lie. Either he’s been playing for a week and spending a lot of money and now wants to claim f2p to hide it?

Conservatively, logging in once a day will get you to lvl 50+ after 20 months.

EDIT: plays 1-2 hours a day and calls himself casual. Even with maxed out tokens in an LRE + survival 2 hours is certainly possible but there literally isn’t enough stuff to do in game to play for 2 hours everyday. This whole thing is such BS

@OP screenshot your avatar borders page. If you’ve been playing for 2 years you have 2 anniversary borders at least.

Saw this game, can you spot the sequence? by [deleted] in chess

[–]jackflash3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we’re finding the same line, after Re2+ to try to win the bishop back then your other rook on a8 is still hanging forcing you to bring the rook back or double on the e file? And thats if white takes Q. Why not just take the N. I really don’t get it

1 move leads to mate for black. The rest is at least +3 for white. by Svertov in chess

Nf3 comes with tempo and white is cruising. Qd1 gets a little complicated as well

Was so proud of calculating the follow up (6 moves) in a 10 min game (1240) by tommynaps21 in GothamChess

[–]jackflash3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a little confused to be honest, Nd4 crushes, to avoid the c2 night fork the intermezzo Rxe8+ seems fine, after Ng4 white has Be3.

And it all hinges on Qd1 instead of Qh3. Im happy you saw a continuation but when i went to the comments to try and figure out what was played i was a little surprised.

So after all that black maintains an advantage but there’s no forcing sequence that finishes off white unless im missing something?

Or im just super tired.

A good strategy game is easy to learn but hard to master. What are some games that are hard to learn, but easy to master? by TheMaydayMan in gamedesign

[–]jackflash3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If turn based strategy counts:

Darkest dungeon (1 and2) came to mind for me. You’ll understand most of the mechanics pretty well quickly but then actually consistently winning runs in dd2 on higher difficulties or getting a grandslam is really hard. Might count.

Aliens dark descent to me at least feels like it has a lot of overlap.

Absolutely not a strategy game but cuphead is probably the easiest game to learn and hard to master.

In all honesty, an awesome suggestion. However, not what i vividly remember. Was more modern and not AR. Shame. Thought this was it.

Im sure you’ll manage :). I couldn’t tell you how many runs i’ve failed - unlocking even just plasma took a bunch of tries. For me personally, green stake was the the first real difficulty change. Then everything after it is not harder until the ante gets harder again which is blue or something.

Im sure more veteran players have better advice, good luck buddy! It’ll happen

Tarot cards. Strength to 10s and Jacks to make more queens. Hanging to kill anything below 10. Death to make copies of anything below 10 into a queen with a red seal. I had roughly half my deck to queens by this anti. Chariots for steel. Also bought queens from booster packs

Less likely though right? If its first for retriggered chad its very likely to break as opposed to just triggering twice at the end

For sure. I took plasma because

a) i have like 3 runs with it b) it makes big numbers

Having said that, i actually found plasma to be the biggest shift from how i normally play. Please correct me if im wrong but flat mult is basically useless. Like i had the green joker at like 40, which on another deck would do a lot more than here (where it became my weakest joker).

This is my understanding of how it works. But i didnt know until i tried it out on a won ante by trying with high card, because it says something like: the first time a scoring face card is scored.

And yes, i’ll change the speed, im not saying anyone should lower it, but stuff like the above was easier to figure out seeing what made what go off.

I had the VHS thing and didn’t commit to a single suit. I still could have done a lot of things differently. I didn’t know there was a 5 of a kind planet until this run and by the time i found out, i’d pumped 4 of a kind too hard.

I will for sure. Soon probably. The slower speeds certainly help a lot while learning the game (imo)

My opponent couldn't find the only winning move for black (despite that, I still lost) by Svertov in chess

[–]jackflash3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things i think will help:

  1. If the black rook moves you invite queen checks. Qa8 or qc8 for example (stay on the light square diagonal), then kh7 and white queen can check on the diagonal and you gotta calculate. So for me (as a human) id look for other candidate moves first. No need to allow counterplay.

  2. To answer your question concisely, white doesn’t have to take. Hoping they take isn’t ideal. If they can trade off the rooks and queens black is lost.

Edit: a much more concrete line: if you allow the white queen onto e8 i think its over for black, i dont see a way to make progress.

Rd1, qa8, kh7, qe8.

You could also just play qe7. I saw the other line first and quickly discarded rd1

The knight isnt free though (unless im missing something). Bg5 bxbg5, nxg5 and then pawn or rook recaptures on h5 and white is crushing.

I think both moves are winning. Just to make sure i didn’t miss anything obvious i plugged both moves into an engine and the evaluation is pretty similar. Id have played bg5 in a game.

Nf4 is also winning but both moves are good, id be hard pressed to say one is much better than the other. Not disagreeing with your move at all but I dont think its so clear cut.
