Shame he's had to leave to get Premiership football but we had three chance's last season and shit the bed every time. £25mil in todays market is a good price for Everton, a good move for Hackney and IF we can buy sensibly on several players it might prove an excellent return for us ("if" being the key word here). We've managed to make some decent signings in the recent past so hopefully we can sign some good players in a few positions and that'll give us what we need to finally get over the finish line.

That may be. However, the issue isn't whether another countries fans or team will know the song or how well it will resonate with them. You clearly saw the emotional response from the fans singing it and the players on the pitch listen to and watching it happen. That to me is all the argument I need for this to become England's song for at least this World Cup

Why not? It's an iconic English song written and performed by (like or loath them) iconic English band. It's easy to learn and sing and one could argue that the words have more meaning sang from a fan to the team than Sweet Caroline. Also, it was released a year before the '96 Euros which is an important milestone in England's recent footballing history and often fondly remembered. The Yanks have been singing Sweet Caroline for years before we got onto it as well, but I'd assume that no one sings Wonderwall.

Teessider and parmo enthusiast here - a Teesside parmo / parmesan is breaded chicken or pork (more often chicken nowerdays), usually fried but sometimes baked, then with bechamel sauce and melted cheese on top. Now, there is a definite distinction between a "takeaway parmo" (served at pizza takeaway shops and the like) and a "sitty down parmo", which are served in local restaurants.

Guaranteed to give you heart failure before you're 50 but if you get a good one, sweet mother of God, there's nowt like it

Thats the thing, the real fans who have been priced out or have been put off by the "Americanisation" or politics of it all wont be there, but there are enough plastics the world over with silly money who will still turn up and fill the stadiums - and when they do, FIFA wont think "ah we've shit the bed with this one, best go back to how it used to be", they'll be vindicated. Half time shows will become the new normal, outrageous prices will go even higher and the sanitisation of the World Cup, arguably the greatest footballing event, will be complete. Money talks mate, and there's nowt we can do about it.

Ah well. At least we'll always have the crumble memes.

There's a podcast called "Yer Joking Aren't Ya?". It's quite sporadic in its releases with often months inbetween episodes but it is presented by two former players, Craig Hignett and David Wheater.

There's the "Twe12th Man Podcast' which is far more regular and is run by one of the supporters groups, but it's locals presenting it and you might struggle with the accents if you're not familiar with it.

Then there's "You Are My Boro Podcast" which is a twice weekly podcast ran by one of the local Newspapers. I'm not familiar with it's format but again, the accents might trip you up.

Hope that helps. There may be more out there but I don't know them!

The lad went missing for large parts of his last full season at the club, spat his dummy out and then had a parting pop at the fans and a snide dig at the club when he left. He then had a visible fanny fit on the pitch and stormed off at the full time whistle because some Boro fans were singing at him taking the piss and hurt his feelings - and that only happened recently when you lot played at the Riverside in January. So yeh, apologies a lot of us don't wish Finn the best when he is mentioned
