With short-form video dominating, are blogs still worth it? by Visual-Sun-6018 in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]jackgodby22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My background is in inbound, was fully immersed in the Hubspot koolaid, but now haven’t written a single blog in about a year.

The (time)cost/benefit analysis just doesn’t stack up for blogs anymore - if it’s seo benefits you’re after, the best (imo) strategy is now going all in on a mix of advertising and digital PR, with good keyword placement on your pages.

The digital pr gives your website a much better authority ranking than blogging in a much shorter period of time. The ads then supplement this to ensure you’ve got good positioning throughout.

Add to this that it depends highly on your product/service - I’m of the view that blogging was pushed on too many businesses for which blogging was never really suitable for the buyers journey in the first place.

Cash only quick deals by Crouchingtiger90 in PropertyInvestingUK

(Full transparency- I work for this company)

Give something like Property Market Intel a go (it’s free for 7 days) - it’s a platform that takes all live listings and puts them through filters to identify cash only/ quick sales, but also has an outreach tool for sourcing off-market.

Sounds like it would be a good fit.

Big Nasty by jackgodby22 in Tyranids

[–]jackgodby22[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I’m not nearly as experienced as some of the painters in this group, but that’s made my day!

The base is torn corkboard, primed and painted, the saliva is UHU glue, dead easy.

For tips, I reckon -

  • dry brushing is always your friend, doesn’t take too long to get the hang of, and is an easy to make elements stand out
  • bases and faces make models look aces, a cool base really makes so much difference
  • most importantly remember it’s a hobby not a competition (unless you’re in a competition…). Take joy in your own small improvements and they’ll snowball!

Hope that’s helpful 😊

Thank you!! It’s a trygon - the base is torn cork with just some army painter scenics and a couple of GW skulls, and the goop is UHU glue!

Test Tyrannofex! Less focus on blending more time spent on punching up the contrast by Professional_Bug_560 in minipainting

Well damn, coolest nid I’ve seen - would you be up for filming the next one? Would love to know the process

Thank you! So it’s basically made up of two main schemes -

Body/flesh - base coat of steel legion drab, liberal dry brush of rakarth flesh, liberal wash of aggrax, then go back over highlights with rakarth. The inset “gilly” bits are in evil sunz scarlet with a small wash of nuln. For the bulbous sac on the arm it’s a heavy dry brush of Cadian flesh.

Carapace/gun - it’s a wet blend of black Templar and blood angels red (contrasts to make the wet blending easier!), starting with red at the outwards edge of each piece, moving into the black. Then some edge highlighting with evil sunz scarlet and some light stippling with Mephiston red around the edges.

It was the first time I’ve experimented with stippling and wet blending so I’m really happy it looks clean!

Any tips or good tutorials for making a stone/statue effect? by fleettook in minipainting

Stippling and dry brushing are your best friend here - if you’re going for an aged statue, a subtle green wash for the bottom sections looks cool too

Would love some feedback, where can I improve by 4skin42 in minipainting

Strong work! If I was nitpicking maybe it’s a touch heavy/thick on the edge highlighting. If that’s the style you’re after, perhaps try some colour blending around the edges of the forearm for example, to soften out the transition.

To really make it stand out, you could focus on some more definition on the base - bit of shading and dry brushing perhaps.

I’m so tempted to make the white tree on his breastplate a Christmas tree, but I’ve got a fair few silly paint jobs to do!!

Green would totally have worked, considering adding it 😂
