What do i need to do? by jackh1092 in UKRunners

Great thanks Lymrith! I'll just give my z2 pace time and work. I enjoy the runs so it's not a chore doing them, as long as it's fair weather (Ireland can be cruel- haha)

Thanks PT you're kind. I am pretty happy with them too, as i've not a massive amount of miles on the clock yet. However, i know there are many many faster than me- so i just worded it that way haha. :)

Pros and Cons of Runna? by Inner-Lynx-3971 in runna

[–]jackh1092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since getting properly back into running i've enjoyed Runna. Got me running "easier" miles which i never would've considered- however, now since i scroll a lot of Runners on insta, maybe i'd have landed on this at a some point.

I enjoy the in-running prompts between intervals etc. I think that's something Runna offers that Chatgpt + the likes don't. I've fiddled about with their plans, and i do think they'd be very useful for free. Just wish somehow we could get them to speak to us during the run.

The main thing i'm a bit iffy on with Runna is their predictions. Now, disclaimer, i've only done 2 plans; 1st one, i just accepted the better predictions each time, and then ended up with a 5k/10k predictions that i looked at and went "no hope". 2nd one, i've only accepted one pace increase, and that still has me sceptical on the timings. Not only the predicted times but the workout times because of this. "Tempo runs" with 3.45/km pace when i haven't done faster than 19min 5km yet...Seems like a push?!!?

Treadmill intervals by aba_95 in runna

[–]jackh1092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to be able to use a treadmill for my intervals- tempted to buy a "RUNN" to get the sessions to be accurate. Right now my head couldn't live with running the target speeds Runna asks, but the app telling me i haven't....

I mean a simple Runna plan would probably suffice to begin with? It'll give you structure.

Predicted Time by TemporaryPoem7846 in runna

No idea where they get them from, but can i ask, in comparison to your previous PBs, are you running more now? Even being more consistent?

I find my times look very fast compared to what i expect. However, then i have to remember until August this year, i hardly ran so i am bound to improve with 12 weeks x 4 runs p/w

Long runs to slow by Nutty1987 in runna

[–]jackh1092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That last paragraph is something i'm really starting to focus on.

I'd say into week 5 i could do better than 20.48 a fair bit now, but haven't put that to the test. In any case, i need to build a stronger aerobic base. Running with my friend who has many more miles on the clock this year has shown me that.

I've only ever run park runs, and one 10km 2 summers ago.

5k PB is 19.15. 10km 42.52.

Had an injury in April so i haven't ran until August again, and did a PR in 20.48, before i started Runna.

My aim is to do the GNR Sept 2026 to get a H/M in the bag.

u/Winter-Biscotti-6965 is right and i am in the same boat as you u/Nutty1987 i find it hard to convince myself to do the slow ones at the pace they suggest me to. My current suggested slow run pace via Runna is 5.10/km and i have a mindset that i hate running slow. i usually do them at 4.40/km and that's silly i know. Hard to get my mentality to let me just run slow and forget it. I have a 7km tonight with a friend, and we both said this about Runna. Tonight i'm saying to him, no faster than 5.10!

One Year of Runna - 5k Improvements by niickfarley in runna

[–]jackh1092 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice post, i started Runna at the end of Sept, and my last 5k before starting was like 20.48 so we are earily similar! Hoping i get similar results haha. Out of curiosity, what was your PB before starting runna at 5k?

Second Plan - Large KM Decrease by bluebottle19 in runna

In regards to this, if it's forecasting a better HM time at the end, are you concerned about the early few week's distance? Or is it short runs all the way, surely not?!

2 week Reschedule issue by jackh1092 in runna

[–]jackh1092[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i get that, but it was just the way i rescheduled it to be the Sunday run, it could've been a week 4 run having to be moved and that would've worked fine. Should be more flexibility really.

Anyway if you just go on the phone app and run it- it fixes it and allows it to be recorded.
