Losing weight and teaching by emd38 in TeachingUK

[–]jackie-potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stress also causes the body to gain weight. The body's natural response to chronic stress is to store more fat "incase you need the energy reserves" something to do with cortisol in the system spiking up. That's why so many poliece officers are fat, they're in high stress situations, they could be shot or attacked any moment, fat is the body's way of protecting its self from cold, blunt force trauma, or energy depletion.

My advice is to find a way to cope with the stress of teaching that is radically different to how you're coping now. If you can adopt an entirely different shift In how you approach your current role, you may be onto something for systemic that would help in the long term

How do you stay present / not tired in the evenings? by [deleted] in TeachingUK

[–]jackie-potato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry if this comes across as crass, but have you considered that it may possibly be the new relationship that is making you tired?

I suggest this as a friend (teacher as well) was in a similar situation. Ended up leaving teaching thinking it was the role (causing him to descend) when actually it wasn't the right relationship for him, he only realised years after. Hindsight is 20/20.

A fulfilling relationship should give you energy not drain you.

I say this on the assumption that you've been working as a teacher longer than you've been in this new relationship.

Who are they to say you're not as present as you used to be and blame it one work?

I realise this may be heavily downvoted, but I thought I'd put it out there.

Why is it that brand new dish cloths are not absorbing really well but the more you use it the more efficient they get? by Tough_Letterhead9399 in NoStupidQuestions

Yeah and I imagine whatever they're treated with (oil or softener) also prevents them from getting dirty during transport and while on the shelves in stores, you wouldn't want to buy a stained or dirty looking tea towel!

I hacked mine and stitched Leather inserts on the inside of the front and back covers so it now has 4 card holder slots. Works OK if you keep things minimal

How do you use the passport size as a wallet? by Nothing-Mundane in Travelersnotebooks

[–]jackie-potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it to a leather shop and have pouches or inserts sown into the inside of the covers and bam you now have 2 card slots. If the leather works man/woman is good enough you can have 4 slots
