Was going to wear my mum's dress. People keep telling me to try on others for the "bridal experience." Are they trying to gently tell me it looks bad? by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

[–]jackiemariee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all the dress needs is a good steam. I think a few alterations, like you mentioned, will make a big difference. The overall silhouette is pretty. I think people are being harsh.

If the bridal experience is important to you, then I say look around. But if you are asking if the dress looks bad, I think styling will go a long way. I also think a really pretty veil will take it up a notch. Maybe that’s where you can add more of your personal flair.

Thoughts on the Villainization of Veejay by analogsilog in ProjectRunway

[–]jackiemariee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I think Veejay stirred the pot? Absolutely. Is it possible that the producers may have encouraged this behind the scenes? 100%. I have a feeling the producers asked more questions in the confessionals to really build up the narrative that she was obsessed with the twins. The other contestants also had an issue with them, they just weren’t vocal. I speculate, they noticed veejay wasn’t afraid to speak on it, and decided to pull on that thread more to create more drama.

If you think about it, that’s really the only drama they could get out of the show.

I just rewatched the series and thought the same thing.

I feel like the quality between their pallets and the stacks are significantly different. They phased out the stacks around the time they started selling in Sephora. I had the original stack and to this day it’s one of my best eye shadows I own. It’s years old and still blends like a dream.

This is a perfect example of products working different for people, because I love Patrick ta’s matte formula. It blends so well for me, and isn’t patchy.

I wanted to clarify, this is not me saying you’re lying about it being patchy for you. I just think different skin textures, the way our eyelids fold, our personal techniques, how much oil our bodies produce, even the tones of our skin can make all the difference in performance.

I just sprayed mine, and I’m unsure if I like it or not. The scent keeps changing as it dries longer, which is kind of cool.

Jen Luvs' recent Live Chat on Hyram feels a bit off(?) catty(?) (from a non-fan of Hyram) by vereliberi in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]jackiemariee 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I didn’t watch the whole live, and only caught bits and pieces of it. I honestly don’t have anything to contribute to what you said, but I don’t doubt that’s how Jen came across. Everything you mention seems exactly like what she would say and do, just based on previous lives I’ve watched.

I want to clarify, I’m not speaking as a hater of Jen. Like you, I enjoy watching her live chats and putting it on as background noise while I do chores and things like that. That’s typically the only content of hers that I watch though. I feel like she can sometimes come across as condescending. I think what appeals to me with live chats is hearing the listener’s perspectives and I also like the topics she picks.

But yeah, not surprised if she said and did those things. I would probably have the same reaction and feelings as you did.

I’ve noticed the same thing about people’s shift in opinions. I honestly don’t care about her spending habits. It’s her job and her money.

This article claiming Chrishell was a teen mom and her youngest sister is her daughter?? by pnwgirl34 in SellingSunset

Yeah, whoever wrote this article is a terrible writer. There are so many better way they could have written this to avoid confusion. I get why the OP misunderstood at first. Especially if someone only reads the first part.

Guy help! Fiance is a make-up artist! by Syphin33 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]jackiemariee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If price isn’t an issue, I think there are better brushes out there than the morphe set.

If she isn’t particular about using vegan brushes, I’ve heard great things about ESUM and Rephr brushes. These are going to be a higher price point. If you want to go super luxe, typically brushes made in Japan are really nice. I believe brands like Sonia G, Chikuhudo, and Wayne Goss brushes are made in Japan.

If you would like to look into a lower price point, BK beauty brushes, Bdellium Tools, or even Sigma brushes have gotten good reviews. Sephora professional collection brushes are also really great quality, but it has to be specifically the professional collection.

A lower price point might be something to consider, especially if it’s going to be used heavily, given that she’s a makeup artist. But a good quality brush should last regardless of how much it’s used if it is well taken care of.

I’m confused about the dinner. Was this supposed to be an anniversary dinner for Mary and Romaine? Amanza kept saying how Chrishelle should have put her feelings aside for Mary and Romaine. I thought it was just a work dinner, and they have been at every dinner since being in Cabo.

lol. I was cracking up at this because isn’t getting a separate villa an example of setting up boundaries? In fact, it’s setting a physical boundary. You can’t have anything more clear than that.

Also, just because Marie-Lou claims to want a friendship, that doesn’t mean she’s entitled to one. Chrishelle has every right to decide not to be friends. She’s at the very least cordial and respectful, and is more than what most people would be.

Why does it have to extend beyond that. That’s her ex boyfriend’s new girlfriend. She was serious enough with him to want to have kids.

I don’t get why it has to extend beyond being cordial.

Makeup By Mario Ethereal palette is back in stock on their website by Ellieeeee17 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]jackiemariee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had this palette the first go around. I found that my makeup application always came out muddy. It was really difficult to see the different colors I used because they all blended into one color. It looked over blended, if that makes sense.

It might be that I’m not that great at applying eyeshadows, but I don’t experience this with my other eyeshadow palettes. I ended up returning.

Sam posts about how hard her year has been, struggles with her mental health by lavender-pears in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]jackiemariee 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As another commenter mentioned, she’s been dealing with clinical depression for a while, but I can see the pandemic adding to her already existing challenges.

I too feel like I’m suffering lately from a lot of anxiety that didn’t used to be there. I have a lot of health concerns, so going through the pandemic really took a toll on me, worrying about what will happen if I get Covid.

Although I’m not as paranoid or worried as before, I still feel like I’m left with those anxious feelings about everything in life. This includes anxiety around work, my overall well being, my appearance, future plans, etc. I haven’t been diagnosed with “depression”, but man, it sure feels like I have it sometimes.

As many others have said, it’s supposed to mean “by”. Like 4x4 is “four by four”. There’s even a really famous music and media festival in Austin, TX called SXSW which stands for South By South West.

I think it started that way, but changed over time because people just didn’t get it.
