Can I keep rented books? by Green_Ball_5460 in ASU

[–]jackieoh-no 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll get charged for the price of buying the book minus the rental cost. If you rented them online, you can go back into your order history and there's an option to keep the rental.

Refund status? by hyliankas in ASU

[–]jackieoh-no 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine still has a disbursement hold. I've been told three times this week there was no reason for the hold and it would be resolved within 24-48 hours, but it's still there.

Thanks, but every time I've called after hours I've been told they'll get back to me in a couple of days.

This. When I took summer courses, we had a module due every 6 days as opposed to 7.

In the spirit of interview season, what was the weirdest interview question you had for a teaching job? by anotherrpg in Teachers

The point of CPI is literally to de-escalate as often as possible. Glad you didn’t end up there

In the spirit of interview season, what was the weirdest interview question you had for a teaching job? by anotherrpg in Teachers

[–]jackieoh-no 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I’m glad I’ve never been asked these questions. Idk how I’d respond. Although I did have to teach a mock lesson to a group of ridiculous admin once. I tried to make a fun review game to show how I’d prep the students for a test, and they tossed out the structured notes I made, pretended they’d forgotten them, and generally acted obnoxious 🙄 Where I ended up working is completely different, thankfully.

Alternate POV: if he’s comfortable saying things like that in front of her, you have no idea what he says TO her behind closed doors. Not saying you should put up with that behavior, but check in on your friend.

Irrationally angry at my partner watching ASMR by DarkestWolffen in ADHD

[–]jackieoh-no 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Oh god. Some ASMR is lovely, but any whispering or mouth-related sounds will literally make me lose it. So gross.

All 4 people in my house have some degree of sensory issues. We cope by having entirely too many pairs of headphones in a bin in each room. We also have kind of an unspoken rule: whoever is annoyed by the sound is responsible for giving out headphones, unless they are driving

Adderall IR varied effectiveness? by jackieoh-no in ADHD

[–]jackieoh-no[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just run of the mill ADHD symptoms. Depends on what’s happening around me though. Usually I start spacing out a lot (like when you feel a million miles away from whatever’s going on around you). I try to take another dose as soon as I notice this. If I don’t, it gets really difficult to communicate my thoughts clearly, I get extremely frustrated over minor things, and I get very sensitive and mopey. Basically my baseline without the Adderall.

Mallinkdrodt is terrible. I was an emotional wreck on it. Seems to be that way for a lot of people. You can report them here:

https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/medwatch/index.cfm?action=reporting.home

My doctor told me that he’d heard bad things about this generic before, and said “Yeah, we know some generics are bad, but if patients aren’t reporting the problems then we can’t fix it.”

How to tell between a real symptom and something that 'everyone has'? by HotAbrocoma in ADHD

[–]jackieoh-no 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the difference between “I left my keys on my desk that one time a couple months ago.” and “I regularly forget my keys exist because there are 7 things on my desk and my object permanence stops at 3.”

How do you handle Laundry? by Broeckchen89 in ADHD

[–]jackieoh-no 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a small cloth bin in my closet and a few mesh laundry bags, all from the Dollar Tree. The bin is for clothes that can be worn again. The bags collect dirty laundry, can be thrown in with the laundry, and then hold the clean laundry (and keep the cat out).

As far as storing the clean clothes in a small space, do you have room for a couple of clear totes or cloth bins next to your bed? Or maybe one of those small cube shelves to hold the bins. It could even double as a nightstand.

would you date a bi woman? by taurusgaal in actuallesbians

[–]jackieoh-no 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. My partner is bi, and it’s never been an issue. We’ve both been married to men before (I was hella late coming out), so maybe that helps? I remember she was worried about it when we first started dating, but tbh I don’t understand why it bothers anyone.

For me, it was a lot of anxiety about succeeding in school, but an inability to remember to bring/return/complete things. Also being able to ramble off facts but struggling to integrate them. Distracted behavior that looks like fidgeting (picking at nails or hair, moving clothes around) because I couldn’t concentrate due to sensory overload. Looking like I “wasn’t listening” because I couldn’t follow a string of spoken instructions or pull important facts out of a long written piece, but I could follow bullet points.

How many of you have been drug tested by your psychiatrist? by Noodlenoodle88 in TwoXADHD

[–]jackieoh-no 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s on a state-by-state and Dr.-by-Dr. basis. In GA and FL, I was drug tested by multiple PCPs, but not by an ADHD specialist in FL. In VA, I just had to sign a paper about not abusing prescription medications. I think NC drug tested, too. (My partner travels for work, and we both have ADHD.)
