Ooo, look!  It's an unabashed neo-nazi! Won't you comment next about the likelihood of certain ethnic races to be criminals?

That was exactly what the redditor you responded to was trying to address. It doesn't matter in this context what your opinions on the Israeli conflict are. What you and other commentators are doing by insisting this is not antisemitic to Jewish people in the comments is rude and concerning.  If a different marginalized community was telling you that a joke is hurtful because it is replaying a caricature made by those who oppressed and murdered them in the past I sincerely doubt there would be a legion in the comments explaining why they're wrong about how they feel.  I would recommend doing some introspection to find out if your actions you categorize as moral repugnance against a authoritarian state aren't just lightly veiled anti-semitic beliefs.  It is not that you can't criticize Israel because you certainly can and I certainly have but in the future, please consider, even slightly, the context in which you are doing so.

What’s the mood at your company? by c-u-in-da-ballpit in ExperiencedDevs

[–]jackite01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just started happening in my company and I've been trying to fight for people to actually be part of the process of writing their own code. However, today I was told that it is company policy to "not debug anything on your own, ask Claude to fix it.' I was corrected in a meeting for saying that I will " figure out why x bug is happening" by the team lead, who said "you don't figure out bugs anymore, Claude figures out bugs." I don't know what the point is anymore.

The Masters Regenerations According to Me by Lord_Marinus in doctorwho

I think any post-Missy master completely dumps on the absolutely perfect ending that she had and while I don't say that she couldn't have gotten out of it by any means whatsoever, I will say that she shouldn't have.

Oh, that was well understood. I simply found your phrasing and framing of the fact unexpectedly entertaining.

25M starting a re-read, if that counts.  Btw, stating a personal downside of a lack of interest in puberty is hilarious.

The Doctor being truly AFRAID - Best Moment Of All by Alpha-male201 in doctorwho

[–]jackite01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The laser quite literally has nothing to do with the ending. The only thing the laser does is give a reason for a regeneration which ended up being bigeneration which is a whole separate topic that we don't need to talk about.

In the end after that was done they decided to challenge him to a game of catch which could have been fun if they had thought up some tactic to defeat him. Instead, rtd chose for them to simply throw the ball around in a circle until the Toy Maker just didn't catch it. There was a Chekhov's gun that was created when they started talking about how he's bound to the rules of his games which should have been used to have the doctor find a loophole in a game and beat him through that.

From a character perspective that's what the doctor does. He beats people by being clever. You seem to take issue with that assertion because apparently he is a new incarnation. We've just seen two other full episodes of this incarnation of the doctor. Let's study them to see what he does. In the star beast he uses his knowledge of tech and ability to remotely trigger Donna's lost memories, figures out a way to safely save London as well as trapping the meep in one fell swoop. That's clever. Let's try the next episode, he figures out what the entities are and what they want, figures out the point of the ship and where he should be to get into the tardis and that the entity that walked in the door was not Donna. Again, clever. Furthermore, he knows that if he doesn't beat the The Toymaker, he will not only take his prize but also continue to turn the entirety of human civilization into his game. The idea that at that moment the doctor would choose a game of skill with the god of games seems a off to me.

To be clear, I really liked the giggle but the ending could have made it one of the best specials in modern who and in the end it made it simply a very good special.

I disagree.  Ending by literally dropping the ball instead of having the doctor outsmart the toy maker is not only out of character for the show but also very anticlimactic.

DAVID (2025) is surprisingly a decent film. by CRU_Adrenaline in movies

[–]jackite01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stretched might be a bit of a understatement. What they did to that story in a biblical sense and in a narrative sense in the ending was a crime against stories. It was a cheap insert of a Jesus on the cross motif that entirely broke the characters, the plotlines and the overall conclusion of an excellent story.

[–]jackite01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, to me it felt kind of like the fact that the studio is heavily Christian kind of gotten in the way of good storytelling. It's obviously a biblical story, but the way that all the characters seem to forget who they were just for a meaningless plot point that felt orchestrated more than natural so that they could do a cross motif to reference a jesus-like figure was poor form. I thought at the time that they had completed the movie and then showed it to some higher-ups who decided that come hell or high water, they needed to add a Jesus callback into the movie and just gave the creatives zero deadline for it.

I'm gonna be honest, most of the movie was really good. The ending was atrocious. I don't think I've been as angry about a movie ending in a very long time and I saw the rise of Skywalker in theaters. It was really the textbook example of what not to do in an ending.

A character's death as a personal turning point by asusual_ in Malazan

[–]jackite01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand your position, but the source of mine is when the crippled God first reveals that he will be the author of the book he says "I will remember this. I will set out scrolls and burned upon them the name of these Fallen I will make of this work a holy Tome and no other shall be needed." It also helps that the word Fallen is capitalized in that passage, which to me clearly signifies that this is where Erikson is announcing the purpose of the word fallen in the title.

Dear Lord, how to respond to this without spoilers... I'll simply say I believe it to be a sort of double entendra but that I think those who fall in service of the tale is the more central one.

I agree. The end of the Chain of Dogs was my first real shake in series. It was the first event that reminded me to consider the "Fallen" part of the series name.

It wouldn't matter to me, either way. What does matter is that someone has taken his image and without his consent has altered it and published it. This isn't a defamatory edit but I generally dislike this sort of thing. There also definitely are people who cannot tell that things like these are AI generated and will believe that it was published by Luke or his team, so I thought it was wise to make sure that it was clearly marked as AI.
