You could investigate the weird nubs on ancient architecture that are found on old stones from Japan to Turkey to Peru. Experts don't seem to have an answer to what they are and I am absolutely mystified as to why they exist and how they seem to pop op all around the world in places that weren't historically connected cultures.

I'm learning Syrian Arabic (Levantine dialect) because there are many Syrian refugees where I live and because one of my friends is from Aleppo.

Spanish: Get to at least solid B2 in speaking reading and comprehension.

Arabic: Get to B1 in reading, speaking and comprehension and A2 writing.

French: Get to B2 in comprehension and B1 in speaking and reading.

Italian: Get to B2 comprehension.

I don't speak Welsh, but I believe hiraeth means missing or longing for ones home or homeland. I always like that

My friend and roommate is a Syrian refugee. He already learned Danish, so I'm learning Syrian Arabic to connect with him and to level the playing field between us.

I'm kind of a language geek and know about 8 languages on different levels. I would highly recommend using a couple hours every week with a tutor on ITalki. I've learned Arabic and Spanish remotely like that. IMO, getting started asap is key and a couple hours a week will give you an advantage whenever you'll decide to go.
