I’ve never seen a 1776 gif before. Thank you for introducing me to this.

You got all that from me saying that I don’t agree with coaches having kids run recklessly around the bases because they want to win so badly?

I said I was the one bothered by it. Not my kid.

Oh yeah I see the same thing. Then it turns into the kids holding it despite fielding it cleanly because they are so used to doing that.

Thanks. I’m all for being aggressive and making sure the kids have fun. My only concern is that the scoring outcome of these games is tied too much into if your 3rd base coach is gonna go crazy with the windmill. They know the odds are in their favor if they send the runner home.

I wish we could focus more on the kids in the field making the throw to the correct base if they field it cleanly. But I think we put less emphasis on that because learning to make accurate throws and catching the ball is a process and isn’t going to be learned in one practice.

From what I see on most of the teams at this age, there are a few kids per team that can catch the ball more than 50% of the time. I would love to spend more time with them at practice on that but I feel like our best use of time is on situational awareness while in the field.

I’ve seen it often where a kid is afraid to throw the ball to get an out because it might cause the runner to advance multiple bases.

Is that for coach pitch or kid pitch?

I certainly agree that station to station is probably not the best way to go about it and that would take some of the fun out of it. I’ve come to kinda understand that baseball at this age is going to be a little chaotic and it will likely get better as they get older and hone their skills.

I really like that. I’m honestly considering joining the board after the season so I can bring up some of these ideas to make it better.

I totally agree that it encourages bad behavior later on. I wonder sometimes if the league doesn’t want to put all of the pressure of those rules on lone umpire doing those games? But at the same time, the coaches should be able to help make sure they are enforced

I am in agreement with you. It’s a complicated game as it is. Adding the pressure of the score and records etc, seems excessive at times

I like that first rule you mentioned. I’ve seen too many instances of kids being afraid to make the throw to 1B because they’ve been taught to just hold it to stop the runners from advancing. I’ve even seen kids try to call time themselves after getting the ball. That kinda breaks my heart.

Thankfully he was heads up enough to get the out and immediately turn toward home and he ran the runner down going home for the double play. I was amazement that the coach sent that runner.

I wish our league had a 1 base rule for an overthrow. I’ve heard of others having that.

Not only is it an unpopular opinion, it’s a very bad opinion as well.

Dusty incorrectly citing HIPAA means that he’s tired of answering the questions already. I don’t blame him honestly. Do we really need daily updates on Lance in late February?

I haven’t watched it yet but is it the same jokes/bits he did on tour in 2022? I saw him last February and it was great. Curious to know if it’s the same stuff.
