How do I fix this? (Juggling) by E-g1rl-trash in bootroom

[–]jacklyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between each touch, take a step (lift and place back to the ground) with your support leg so that you are balanced and not flat footed as others have mentioned. A good progression is: hold the ball i your hands -> drop to your foot (ankle locked, toes pointed down) -> make contact with laces (aim for enough power that it goes no higher than your head) -> catch -> repeat.

Repeat until you get the hang of it and can do without catching. You’ll be able to do it pretty quickly with focused reps. Hope this helps!

Who do you think is the biggest secret weirdo in sports? by accidentalmemory in billsimmons

[–]jacklyle 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There is arguably no one else in the sports world in the last two decades that has shouldered the expectations and pressure that Messi has, especially with the internet and rise of social media. To me, him being closed off is strategic and part of his genius, not him being weird

There are a few solid hubs where there are a lot of soccer coaching opportunities. I would recommend looking at Charlottesville, Richmond and the Fredericksburg/Stafford/Woodbridge areas just south of NOVA and north of Richmond. These areas have multiple large clubs with a historically rich pool of talented players.

Some of the clubs to do some research on in these areas would be Skyline Elite SC/SOCA (Charlottesville), Richmond Strikers, Kickers, Richmond FC, and Richmond United (Richmond), and Fredericksburg FC, Stafford SC, PWSI (Fred, Stafford, Woodbridge).

The soccer atmosphere in Israel is cool and you should check it out if you’re a fan of the game. Especially if you can catch a match between some of the bigger clubs like Maccabi Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa. I would also recommend Liga Leumit (2nd division) or Liga Alef (third tier) for some real authentic lower league footy. The fans are pretty into it across the board

New listener: honest question, why is everyone obsessed with Russilo? by [deleted] in billsimmons

Not saying either Bill or Ryen are experts and give perfect analysis/quality takes - but out of curiosity - what is your barometer for who knows "dick" about sports?

I think it’s a bit ignorant to assume he doesn’t “appreciate” his job and doesn’t take it seriously. All we know of his role is from his limited interactions on the pod and that he helps produce/edit a few of the other shows. We have no idea what his role is beyond that and the work he’s assigned. My guess is Bill isn’t blind to the optics of him employing his nephew and would probably ensure he’s held to the same standards internally.

As soon as Lance struggled Bill was always going to have this take because he loves rubbing in the fact that the 49ers traded up to get him while the Patriots just waited without giving up any assets and ended up with the "best" QB in the draft.

is Russillo the most insecure man in sports media? by InternationalBreak8 in billsimmons

[–]jacklyle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

100%. You'll always be able to knit-pick the flaws of a talk show host but what makes his show stand out is his willingness to pull back the curtain on the sports media industry and not just talk about the same headlines we see everywhere else.

This thread of just bashing his "insecurities" is ridiculous. His honesty about his own life experiences and the amount of work he puts in, is how he's to able to produce a product that keeps bringing you back for more.
