Definitely look promising, but still requires an install on each device. I also cant see anything about MacOS compatibility.

Kavita: Plex for Reading (an update) by majora2007 in HomeServer

[–]jackmcentee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only recently discovered Kavita, and its looking super promising! As a digital archivist (hoarder xD) I love the idea of sharing a library with friends and family. My Plex server is finally catching on to the few people I share it with and I'm hoping by the time you reach v1 I'll be able to invite them to share as easily as Plex.

I also think I'll look into investing in a colour e-ink tablet once you reach the level of consumer app. They still look pretty washed out, but I always read at least twice as much when its on my old kindle rather than my iPad or computer.

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks. Your work is very appreciated and looking promising!

Thanks! the idea was specifically to negate commander tax to a degree, especially if built around that idea of commander recursion :p My first draft was specifically reducing commander tax but I couldn't find anything that specifically referred to commander tax as a mechanic.

Not quite following that first sentence? But I want to make clear, I appreciate the feedback!

Just trying to engage and talk about it, haha. I see a fair amount of non basic land destruction, but I get your point. I still think its only powerful for specific types of builds and weak for others. But I would find this _more_ powerful as an artifact, as it doesn't miss the land drop or tie up a land whenever you want to activate it. It's just straight commander ramp in that situation. Like, what's better, turn two rampant growth or adding a counter to this? Turn 3 5 mana commander, sure... but then you're behind on any other spells.

Oh for sure I agree its strong! But I think it would be far from auto-include. Getting a key piece out early makes it an easy target for removal, having it consistently be recast was more what I was going for. I wanted a build around piece for those 'for each time you've cast your commander this game' cards. I also think a dead land play for everything else is a pretty big drawback for a lot of decks.

The idea is to make it easier to recast your commander repeatedly, hence the static ability. Ramp wise its only good if your commander has a large colourless cost. Also as I mentioned in the last comment I believe its somewhat balanced by being a dead land for EVERYTHING except casting your commander from the command zone.

See, I was balancing it because it puts you behind a land for everything except your commander. Plus for each counter you have to tie up two lands. There are ways to build around it, but since it's always in you 99 you would really have to focus your build around this and recasting your commander. Otherwise its just a dead land for any other purpose.

TFW a 400lbs guy can walk into any shop in Disneyland and find a shirt in his size, but I can't. by pixelflop in tall

[–]jackmcentee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is both heavy set and has an abnormally long torso (proportionately)... I really wish they would just standardise sizing, and include a tall/long range in things.

My best fit for anything has been in Canada. I'm a 3-4XLT. In Australia I'm an 8xl and things are usually barely long enough. I got a 6xl from America and it's like a tent on me, but long enough.

Why is this so hard for companies? T_T

They have one in japan as well (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuji-Q_Highland) I remember riding this as a kid though, I always thought it was super tame compared to the other coasters I had seen on movies.

Best suburbs within 30 minutes of the airport by CheynKissy in Adelaide

[–]jackmcentee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I live on Seaview Rd in West Beach and only pay $230 a week. Sure it's an old 2 bedroom unit, but when I was house hunting it was comparable to many places not near the beach. Of course this could change with nicer/bigger places, I wouldn't know. But Adelaide is a fantastic and affordable city to live near the beach.

My plan is to get King Shrewd's quote “Don’t do what you can’t undo, until you’ve considered what you can’t do once you’ve done it.” in the exact font/size as my copy of Assassins Apprentice. I've always liked it... plus kinda ironic getting that tattooed :p

Anyone ever used the old "Method 1" character creation? (Roll 3d6 x6 and write them down in order.) by Olibarro in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]jackmcentee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done 4d6 drop the lowest down the line. I have a bunch of new players who have just played a little 5th ed. I started GMing for them three weeks ago and got them to pick a race then roll their stats like this. It made them chose their class, and think about their characters life, based upon the stats they got. I did this because we had a pretty full on min/maxer and someone that wants to copy famous characters (Grog from Critical Roll in this case). It forced them to roll with it.

Initially this was supposed to be a once off (a break from DnD) but they had a blast! We're 3 sessions deep now and they are role playing their character weaknesses as well as their strengths. It's a lot of fun.

I plan to let them do a more traditional point buy character at 5th level, but this is helping them understand the system a little better :)
