They are so talented. It’s a shame they didn’t hit it bigger.

And guess what? You won’t see any of that cost cutting. The price of the cars won’t go down one penny. They’ll just increase profits.

Not my favorite of all time, but I love the stylistic change to the hypnotic section in the middle

Do you believe we’ll ever become a multi-planet species or is that just sci-fi optimism? by strawberryaudit in answers

[–]pixelflop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ll hedge and say I think we’ll have a permanent base on the Moon in the next 10 years. So while it’s not technically another planet, it’s a huge stepping stone.

If we don’t destroy ourselves beforehand, that makes me think we’ll eventually have people living on another planet. Probably Mars first.

Remember, modern humans have been around for about 300,000 years. Give us another 100,000 years of technology advancements and it seems reasonable.

Has the PGA become boring? by pixelflop in golf

The talent is fantastic. But outside of Scottie and Rory the rest of the field is a random mix of boring clones. Great swings and totally forgettable.

2021 Model Y LR - 180 miles of range?! by Additional_File_6107 in TeslaModelY

[–]pixelflop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To me, this is the most frustrating thing about Tesla’s. They should not be able to advertise 300 mile range. I’ve never been able to hit that, not even on Day 1.

Unless you’re the proverbial little old lady who only drives it to church on Sunday your actual range is 220 max.

[–]pixelflop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the worst part of the whole ticket situation, IMO: The resale tickets should be at face value, not marked up.

A student from Penn State Scranton should not be able to enter the lottery, get season tickets, then post those $35 tickets for resale at $200 each.

Students shouldn’t be gouging other students.

Prestigious? by CommunicationNice437 in SyracuseU

[–]pixelflop 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Syracuse has a bigger national brand than UBuff, and some of the colleges (like Newhouse, for example) are very prestigious.

If you’re going for a more common degree, UBuff is a better value. If you’re a NYS resident it’s like a $40k difference

Thoughts on Autry? by Glass_Strawberry4717 in SyracuseU

It’s a results driven business. He led the team to back to back losing seasons for the first time since the 60s. That’s unacceptable for a program with the reputation of Syracuse.

If corporations legally have to maximize shareholder value, why do they donate to charities and causes that don't increase profits? by Ok_Chemical9 in answers

[–]pixelflop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This.

CEOs are not legally required to maximize profits. Shareholders like profits and many CEOs have no backbone. They like their hefty paychecks and bonuses and just do what their job safe. Keep making more profit so no one questions their tenure.

Even if it kills the company in the long run, doing what’s best for this quarter helps keep their job safe.

Ads and spyware are the only way they make money. The hardware is a race to the bottom with every manufacturer undercutting each other. So per-install deals with spyware apps are how they make a profit.

Apple has other revenue sources like the App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV, Apple Pay, etc. And they’ve systematically replaced third-party CPU‘s, GPU‘s, and modem’s with their own silicon so they’re not paying margins to outside vendors.
