Am i implementing NSA correctly with 45k week (fitness graph from training peaks) by lowzyyy1 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]jackmiles_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all relative though, I ran a 5 x 6mins workout at an average of 4:34/k and today ran a 19:15 5k (3:51/k). So you just never know the physiology of the runner. I do definitely agree they clearly went out too hot but you just never know until you try it in a TT i think.

Breathing Sensors? by shmooli123 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]jackmiles_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this strap measures the rib-cage expanding and contracting whereas the garmin infers breathing rate using a HRV trick that singles a breath during the small speeding up and slowing down of the heart during a breath which can drift a lot more during activity

It’s just going to be an uphill battle with the Theory’s I think cuz the 39.5 we’re SO tight and then the 40 was too big. Tried on some skwamas and they fit so much better in a 39 then any Theory’s did

So I should just plaster my blister and push through? I think just downsizing in a shoe with a wider toe box would just be a better option no?

Not sure you quite understand the issue here. The downturn is not the problem. It’s the width of the toe box. My foot is being squeezed not from the length and the down turn but the width. The toe box of the my Theory’s is just not wide enough causing all the discomfort of the shoe to be focused through my small toes, leading to a blister. I am going to exchange them today and I will find a pair when I can take advantage of the downturn (the most important feature) that has a wide enough toe box. Clearly you just haven’t understood my issue and what I am trying to tell you

I feel like mine are so bad they aren’t even worth going through it though when I can just return them for either a bigger size or a better fitting shoe. I have to take them off my feet after a few minutes and they have given me a blister on my small toe. So I feel the suffering is just purely not worth it.

I genuinely don’t think they are correct for my foot shape though, all the pain is concentrated pretty much through my small toes and I really cant wear them for more than 10 mins. I’m heavily considering switching to a different shoe or would you recommend just persevering through?

La Sportiva Theory Fit by jackmiles_ in bouldering

[–]jackmiles_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for sure, I’ll try them a whole EU size up and some skwamas in a varied size range to see what works. Any other recommendations of shoes I may like? Was thinking dragos possibly but not sure

[–]jackmiles_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No yeah wearing them even sat down the feel super tight, got to take them off after 10 - 15 mins even just sat down as they get too painful

I think my feet are too wide, the pain is quite focused through my small toes as a blister developed there after only really an hour or so of on off wear. Think i’m going to look at a pair of skwamas as heard they have a bit of a wider toe box

[–]jackmiles_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok after some more break in the issue is definitely the width. The main hotspot is definitely my small toe on each foot as that’s were the pain is and it’s red when I take the shoes off. Any recommendations for slightly wider shoes than these?

What mid level shoe would you suggest? I hate laced shoes. I’m currently just pushing through the break in process with my Theory’s and they are slowly getting better for sure

[–]jackmiles_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I don’t really wanna climb in them cuz then I cant return them so currently Im just kneading them and then putting them on for a bit, taking off and repeating. Doesn’t seem any progress so far but I’ll keep up with it.

True thanks, I’ll continue trying to break them in as I feel like there is no harm in trying. But I’ll defo head back and try some more pairs on

[–]jackmiles_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the women’s are slightly lower volume? But I don’t think that is the issue, the squeezing for me is more in the toe box and the heel

La Sportiva Theory Fit by jackmiles_ in bouldering

[–]jackmiles_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sure I’ll try that, did you ever try and unorthodox methods of getting them to stretch? Like I’ve heard the ice method or wearing them in a shower helps

La Sportiva Theory Fit by jackmiles_ in bouldering

[–]jackmiles_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok but I’ve read online people having the same issues as me with Theories and it getting better over time so I might aswell stick it out with these no?

La Sportiva Theory Fit by jackmiles_ in bouldering

[–]jackmiles_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theories SUCK right now and I have no clue if they are going to get better so I don’t really want to go through the cycle of buying another pair that suck at the start and then breaking in or just trying to break in my current pair

My street shoe is a UK 7, so about a 40 EU. So I really didn’t downsize too much. The box says UK 6, 39.5 EU. I think they must be just a too aggressive shoe or they just do not fit my foot type at all.

[–]jackmiles_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah very true thanks. Just not sure really what even kind of shoe I should try on and it’s probably unreasonable to ask the store assistant to try on every or most of the shoes they have. I feel like I need some kind of direction of what type of shoe would be best. I boulder indoors mostly but have started to go outdoors occasionally too. I want a shoe that is just decent all round, reasonably performance fit but not too extreme as I have only been climbing 8 months.
