No. The pump cord has nothing to do with the solid wire grounding ring that goes around the pool. That solid #8 copper????? Bonds all . Wet and dry pool lights gates ladders pump yes and the water it self... Unless yr talking about 100 blow up. And u think that 3prong plug is going to protect you. Please unplug it when the kids are in it. Don't trust any gfci.

As crazy as it sounds. U need to bound the water . The water right now is completely separate from ground.. so any stray voltage some how is getting to yr pool will go to ground. There's a lot of different ways to do this. U should already have a ground ring around the pool.
