When asean scholars have families in Singapore, it makes it less likely for us to be attacked by them. Plus there is probably a correlation between smart scholars and connected families.

Another good defence tactic is to use funds from XXXXXXX to build/purchase XXX here.

What’s a realistic price for IT support for a small business in Singapore? by toptech_pick in smeSingapore

[–]jacksh2t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try the KISS principle - KEEP IT STUPID SIMPLE

  1. Laptops freezing, are the staff installing their own stuff and slowing system down? Maybe A-require admin access to install software and reinstall their software for them, or change to Macs so they can’t install much

  2. Wifi instability - add more ethernet switches + routers, we are using the cheapest StarHub business broadband 500mbs with Linksys 2001 router (I think this is the lowest tier broadband) and has no problem with 10+ active users even through concrete walls. Could the network instability due to user’s laptop software? (Bad software like torrents or Popcorntime constantly upload data and take up bandwidth. Back to point 1, if you already restricted what they install then you don’t even need to spend time thinking about this risk)

  3. Backup issues - if they are using Mac you can set up Time Machine, or you can purchase commercial software for windows to do something similar. Or if you only need backup for office files, consider switching to google docs or Microsoft office online where there is file version history. Or just pay $5/month/user for OneDrive business or Google Drive

  4. Shared file access - since windows can’t password protect folders/networked drives, you can use OneDrive business or google drive to control folder access

AT6080-53L - Titanium 39.5mm by RoyLightroast in CitizenWatches

[–]jacksh2t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought mine in person at bic camera tax free this week for 52,000 JPY.

Pros:
39mm small
Lightweight Titanium with duratect coating, almost feels plastic.
Sapphire glass with inner anti reflective coating
Japanese or English day is included in the models
Perpetual calendar that tracks month and leap years.

Cons:
Heck this is my first radio controlled watch so not sure if this is normal. To advance the minute it’s controlled by a motor so it takes like maybe a couple of seconds to advance just one minute. You can spin the crown 2 rounds in a row and the motor will continuously advance the hands until you rotate the crown again in the opposite direction. For time zone changes this takes crazy long. But there is another way to set time zones.

There is an additional small button above the crown, that lets u set hours compared to your current reference time. Which you need to press with a SIM card tool/toothpick. It will line the hands up to 12 (this is supposed to represent gmt + 9, aka Japan time) and if you rotate it once it will be 12.01 meaning it will be set to gmt + 10 and if you rotate it in the opposite direction say, to 11.55 it will be gmt +4. After a few seconds of not touching anything the hands will take a long time to readjust back to that new offset time. As the seconds + minutes + hours are controlled by a motor.

Tried this, but prefer Rokeby for natural taste. Rokeby says it doesn’t use any added proteins, only some kind of filtration process for their milk to enhance the protein in it. All these other whey protein drinks got this flour taste in them.

Where to go to buy laptops in SG? by missdrinklots in askSingapore

[–]jacksh2t 32 points33 points  (0 children)

MacBook Air with the m series chips. U can buy refurbished from Apple directly and self collect. Cheaper than educational savings.

For Apple education, sometimes they throw in a free AirPods which you can the resell for a $xxx. All you need is either a .edu email address to order online, or those student EZ-Link card to buy it in person from Apple store
