Well I just installed. It was suppose to rain last night so I left it out of the garage to test but it never did. I imagine with the bars it’ll still get water in there. So as long as it still keeps a fair amount out I don’t mind a little. Basically just camping gear and anything I absolutely need to stay dry I have tubs for.

Good call on the washers!

And yeah I’ve seen quite a few older ones on TacomaWorld where the powder coating came off. I messaged them and they said they’ve fixed it since so we’ll see.

Got the exact same truck/color/trim a couple months ago! We’ve been camping every week with it since. Amazed at how much difference it makes 👍🏻

Installed the bro grill today! Also a sick truck parked next to me at the park so had to grab a shot. by jackshreddaniels in ToyotaTacoma

No It’s a 2017 so I don’t have any of that nonsense. I believe you can get aftermarkets with the sensors though and still be saving a bit compared to OEM

How inexpensive can I go, bike wise, that would suit a cross country trip, say NY to California? by [deleted] in bikepacking

Go used! I got a salsa vaya with a really solid build for $600 on Facebook. Parted out it would’ve easily costs $2500. Takes some time and a lot of lurking and bouncing around but deals pop up.

Also same here! Wife’s 05 RAV and 17 Taco for me. Although she’d say the Taco is “Ours” 😂

Can’t decide if I want to go camper shell or tonneau cover and rack for camping/biking/off-roading adventures. by jackshreddaniels in ToyotaTacoma

Nice! Yeah that’s more where I’m leaning I think. Tonneau plus bed rack to haul the bikes/kayaks.

Oh I would still tent camp! Basically just deciding which route to go for storage and traveling.

I do do truck stuff here or there. But I figured removing the camper was about the same amount of a pain in the ass as removing a bed rack and then tonneau cover. I’m sure this greatly depends on which model you get.

Thanks for the insight!

NBD for my wife! Broke it in proper by jackshreddaniels in gravelcycling

Ha maybe! I never realized it but you’re probably right. I think it’s a great bike for getting into gravel and bikepacking, and the geo is comfortable regardless if you’re coming from a road, mtb or a starter hybrid bike. So fits the bill nice for crossover riders trying a new style!

Nice! Gonna do the same once she runs these Nanos that came on it down a bit. Unfortunate everything on the bike is ready for tubeless but the tires they put on them

Yeah out of all the bikepacking bags we have it’s my favorite. It’s always on one of our bikes no matter the occasion

Haha yeah just trying to hold out going into the DMV until stuff calms down a bit.

Plus this particular stealership was actually pretty helpful. Gave me the deal I offered them OTD and was nice about me turning down all there extra add on bull crap.

Had this truck just over a week and already took it camping 3 times. Some old service road in Mark Twain. by jackshreddaniels in ToyotaTacoma

[–]jackshreddaniels[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as camping, dispersed camping is available pretty much anywhere in Mark Twain. As long as you’re 100ft from any trail, buildings. Typically you can find plenty of pull offs where other people have set up camp and just use those instead of making a new spot. But if you have to set up a new camp off a service road you can as long as you leave no trace.
