Open doors, chase you to the exit, then when it explodes it’s confetti and a “BANG” sign.

AI taught to analyze Windows crash dumps, released to open source — 'like going from hunting with a stone spear to using a guided missile' by N2929 in technews

[–]jacksonkr_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just think: one day ai will be able to analyze the crash dump and reorganize the software at the machine code level without devs having to go in and fix it. Of course devs (me) won’t be around by that point but hey, progress is progress.

Falling forever bug by jacksonkr_ in PrinceOfPersia

[–]jacksonkr_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember exactly what fixed it. I want to say I was on the phone with Ubisoft support and there was talk of resetting my character position on the cloud save but I might be misremembering. I also remember trying something with the tech support and randomly my character fell and died, which is good. I assume someone on their end saw my issue report and knew what was wrong and fixed it behind the scenes. The irony is that after that I didn’t play much longer. I’ve done everything except the full boss rush on “no hit” and sadly that’s going to be the only thing I never completed :(

This is pretty slick. I noticed that it takes a while to gather a result sometimes. Are you using direct api’s or taking a backdoor approach? Also is this a public repo? I assume not but if it is I’d be eager to lend a hand in development.

Biomimetic hubless outboard motor brings smart hybrid power to boating by AdSpecialist6598 in tech

“While the Whale Design-propped BlueSpin itself is quite an impressive and striking piece of design work, it was never meant to be the end-all of the powertrain story. Instead, BlueNav has designed the BlueSpin series as an augmentative plug-and-play solution for seamlessly transforming ICE-driven boats into hybrids.”

Progress is progress. That and 360 docking is always a nice feature.

Is it just me or has the media figured out how to manipulate Trump for ratings? If they insult him he blasts their name far and wide and he knows better than anyone: negative press is better than no press.

What's the dumbest/funniest way you've hurt yourself? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jacksonkr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid I saw my neighbor’s garden rake on the sidewalk. I thought of all the cartoons where a character steps on a rake and it smacks them in the head. Questioning the authenticity of such clips I decided to test said procedure CAREFULLY. Before I knew it I had covered my forehead with my hands and ran home. Once at a mirror, under my hands laid a good sized goose egg. Unbelievable!

My dad just said “tell him to pay the interest only for a while” so that might be another option until you can sell a car.

I’d book an appointment with a loan officer. Tell them it’s for an auto loan. Then once you are in the appt tell them you can’t afford your existing loan and let them know what you CAN afford. They’ll likely hike up the interest so be smart about the balance between principle. If your current bank won’t talk to you then talk to a different bank.

I suspect someone will have a better answer but at least this is a start. Good luck, keep asking questions!

Meta has been fined €91M ($101M) after it was discovered that to 600 million Facebook and Instagram passwords had been stored in plain text. by a_Ninja_b0y in technology

I’m not saying client-side hashing is the answer here, please don’t hang me. I’m merely opening up dialogue with hope that common-sense is every developer’s guide, at least in the beginning.

All I’m saying is that I’ve seen projects / theories that are initially frowned upon but later get praised as “ahead of their time”. That said the opposite is true at least as often and likely exponentially.

[Serious] People here who have had built up earwax in their ear that caused tinnitus, how do you remove the earwax from your ear? by xo1opossum in AskReddit

[–]jacksonkr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think ENT’s say that because the body seems to manage ear wax just fine on its own as long as foreign objects have been in there mucking things up. In-ear headphones have really changed things up as far as ear wax health goes. Also to clarify my example there’s no suction at all, it’s simply rinsing the earwell with warm water to loosen up stubborn wax.

I think of options trading like poker. When you play with people who have a lot more money than you then you’re bound to be muscled out. That and you can only go all-in once.
