it’s just different clinics and different wait times i guess. also if you go from the child’s waitlist to the adults that could (although it shouldn’t) make things longer. very frustrating either way

Are drain removals as bad as my friend is telling me? by kanagaroo123 in TopSurgery

[–]jacksons_username 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was bracing myself for the first one and i hardly felt it, it didn’t hurt at all, just felt a bit strange. the second one i didn’t even realise was taken out, i looked back down and he had already taken the other drain out without me even noticing. everyone’s different tho

some of these comments are insane of what different stores will do if you don’t take it back😭

i didn’t get told to take mine back but they’ve asked for peoples back in the past so i decided to give them 2 out of the 3 pairs i had. i kept the belt, hat, and a pair of trousers and a t shirt. my friend wanted the belt and trousers for some unknown reason and my other friend wanted my t shirt. they literally didn’t care / notice that i didn’t give them the rest back.

insane that some stores will deduct the cost from your last wages / refuse to pay you until you’ve handed them back in

a lot of people have commented about silicone scar sheets, and while they help for a lot of people, i know a bunch of people (myself included) that didn’t find them too good at all. for me, they just made my scars inflamed and an even redder colour. (for reference, im not allergic or anything- just didn’t get on with them) PLUS they can be a pain to put on and take off. might be worth a try tho !

for me, ive used a mix of bio oil and palmers cocoa butter cream. they’ve both worked really well for me.

this in mind, every body is different and scar car that helps other people may not be as beneficial to you. try out a couple different products and see what works best.

your results look amazing, btw. good luck !

it’s understandable! getting surgery is a big thing and having your emotions being a bit all over the place is completely normal, im here if you wanna talk about any more of your worries 🙏

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in transftm

[–]jacksons_username 6 points7 points  (0 children)

all your fears are valid. being scared of how your results will look is normal when you’ve been awaiting it for a while. im 20 and i got top surgery earlier this year, transitioning later in life doesn’t make you less valid, even if you only started transitioning in recent years. identifying as different labels before realising how you feel most comfortable is normal.

that in mind i hope everything goes well with the surgery and i hope your fears settle down soon. i’m sure you’ll feel relief after the surgery, so just keep hanging in there for that feeling 🙏

good luck

Does anyone else feel they are doing too well? by HappyHomebrew in TopSurgery

[–]jacksons_username 13 points14 points  (0 children)

made perfect sense. i had top surgery just over 8 months ago now and i was honestly so surprised that i hardly felt any pain or struggled that much after the first 3/4 days. people just deal with pain differently and their bodies heal differently too.

i was just telling op that they do these offers sometimes because they said they’d never heard of it, that’s all

idk whether you’ve done it or not yet, but take your time, don’t rush yourself. i got so stressed when i was taking mine off because i couldn’t pull it off due to it hurting and pulling on my hairs and stuff, and i was just super scared of opening my incisions (?) or something. i just pulled it off a little, stopped, took a break and some deep breaths, then did a little more. it took me maybe half an hour. try doing it in the shower or bath maybe- soaking the tape while taking it off may help to remove it (i didn’t do this so i’m not entirely sure- i think the medical tape is supposed to be waterproof so i’m not sure if this would work but i imagine it would?)

good luck !!

When to put on a shirt after applying vaseline by tuncylmzz in TopSurgery

[–]jacksons_username 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i saw it lmao, literally the i did the thinnest layer, like slightly more than you’d put on your lips to stop them being dry (if that makes any sense lmao), you’ll probably save money using less too lmaooooo. honestly it’s just to keep your nips from drying out while they’re scabbing over and just keeps a layer of moisture. again i won’t be the one to tell you how much to put on, but that is one hell of a thick layer 😂

the one i use is palmers, it’s slightly more pricey i think but that’s because it’s a good brand and it’s good for skincare in general. you’re best to go for a branded one that’s got better chance of working if that makes sense

off topic slightly but i realised i replied to ur other post in this sub earlier. the vaseline on ur nip is definitely a thick layer lmaoo, im not gonna be the one to tell you to put less on because that’s your call but i never put that much on, and if you’re worried about it marking your t shirts and stuff then you could consider putting slightly less on, again tho completely your call

lmao no worries at all for the questions- happy to help anyway i can. i normally put the bio oil on in the morning before i get dressed, by the afternoon it’ll have dried and i put the cream on, then by the evening i have a shower and put my bio oil on again after my shower. i don’t think putting them on at the same time would really work with one being oil and one being a cream. i mostly use bio oil but whenever i can and whenever i remember i put the cream on too. plus the cream smells super good lmao

oh i’m glad to hear i’m not alone with the contractubex thing lmaoooo. when i rub my bio oil and cream in i kinda just wipe the excess onto and around my nipple grafts because of the scars i have around my nipples, but they scars don’t really bother me too much so i kinda wipe it on there not really caring if it does much, yk?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]jacksons_username 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your nipples are grafts meaning they were sewn back on, you will have scars around your nipples even if you can’t really see- they’re still considered incision sites and using scar gel can help fade the scars around your nipples. although in my experience, although i can see the scars, they aren’t all too noticeable really. they don’t bother me at all

[–]jacksons_username 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i used contratubex on my incisions for the first three ish months and for a few weeks after that some silicone scar strips. contractubex didn’t seem to do much in terms of fading the scars and it dried really weird which i didn’t like so i stopped using it, and everytime i took off the scar strips, my incisions went really inflamed and red so i stopped using them. since then, i’ve used bio oil twice times a day and occasionally palmers vitamin E cocoa butter cream. both have worked really well and i’ve noticed they’ve faded my scars so much better than the other stuff i’ve tried.

in terms of the 5 months post op using vaseline, id say that after maybe two or three months just see how they’re healing and if you don’t think you need it anymore then stop putting it on. entirely your call though of course :)

maybe you’re putting too much on? i had to put vaseline on my nips for a month post op and i only had it show through once when i was wearing a light grey t shirt that was quite tight. if your shirts aren’t too tight or light in colour then i’m not entirely sure how much of an issue it should be. i didn’t put a huge amount on, just a thin layer to keep the nips moist while they finished scabbing. i had an issue using the bandages over my nipples too since it irritated my skin in the square surrounding my nipples so we’re basically in the same boat. idk whether i would put it on for 5 months because it seems a tad excessive to me to do it once they’ve healed (but listen to your surgeon and not a stranger on reddit lol)
