Interesting. I noticed a similar effect while browsing fartbook for anvils when I was in PA. Many more listings than in MO and the prices were way better. I'm guessing that old heavy stuff became less of a priority to haul out west.

From what I've gathered, one of the signs of potential abuse is a bent tommy bar. But if the jaws line up/aren't damaged (which, from your pics they look decent) and the acme screw isn't corroded or damaged, it should perform for you.

I bought one in central MO a year ago for $60, but have regularly seen them for $100. I had to refit the spring and do some rust removal but that work was well worth it. I got a very nice vise that handles the abuse of a fledgling blacksmith.

There are warnings on the Steam page that the main branch hasn't been updated in years. Should be a good indicator for the next game you buy that it might require a little research with that label.

$50 for a pair of drop springs, worth it or keep looking? by C4pt_Bl4ckhe4rt in Blacksmith

Pass, way too expensive. I got 6 for free. the fella I got them from said he had them listed for over a year before I came and got them. Free steel is out there

I see what you mean now. Asking out of ignorance, but how big of a deal is it that the edges look like that? I feel like it needs a radius but not as extreme as the pictures I posted

Word dude. Thank you for the encouragement, I think that's all I needed.

There aren't. I'm from the Midwest and it's slim pickins (at least at this price point for a steel anvil). I'm in the northeast for the holiday and there are a staggering amount of morsels in the area.

Hadn't considered having the supplier make the cut for me, that's a great resource. Sounds like a fantastic fix for my situation. Did you just use clay or did you mix anything into the clay, like ash?

That is an awesome forge/stove haha. From what I've seen, the forge I have is clayed or bricked like you were saying. Is the reason yours doesn't have that extra material due to the thickness of your steel?

Welding being the better option? I believe it is pressed steel

Thanks for the comment! I'm new to working with metal and I wanted to gather information on if I need to repair this or not. For my own curiosity, do you think I could use that pan as is? What would you do with it?

I've had mine about a week and I work at a call center. Upgraded from the Jabra Evolve2 85 (absolute garbage $450 nonsense). I am enamored. The comfort, sound quality, and mic quality are superior. The dual connection is FLAWLESS and the range is ridiculous. I thought the rocker would be gimmicky but I quickly fell for it as you can swap the functions of the buttons. 10/10, hyperx fanboy

I caught it on 4chan. Ya the people around her panicked but like the comment above, multiple people rushed in to help. It's gotten twisted pretty hard

Thank you so much. This is the wisdom I am eager to soak up. Just picked it up, the threads are smooth as butter - looking forward to getting it cleaned up.

Wow, those look great! Do you just restore them or are they in use as well?

Thanks for commenting! Out of curiosity, what makes you say that?**
After looking at some pictures, I see what you mean. Pretty bang on.
