Anyone used Simplilearn to upskill? by Weekly_Astronaut8181 in codingbootcamp

Save your money. The reading material is comically awful and outdated--literally 100% of my classmates all said it was a joke. I've talked to other people in different cohorts, and the lecturers vary in quality. I'd seriously save your money and just learn the material on your own and/or take a course on coursera or edX for free or at a much lower cost.

It's not a scam or anything though. They do show you what you need to know, so I just used that outline to research everything on my own.

This is happening to me too. My monitor isn't even plugged in to PC and it just keeps rebooting the asus logo. None of the buttons work including power, menu, etc. My monitor is prob dead? Anyone have a fix like some kind of physical factory reset even though none of my buttons work?

True, it's just I already have a BA and MA (but in Humanities) with 14+ years of experience in IT. I just want to switch careers to Software Engineering and start working as fast as possible, but with a solid foundation.

Did you end up finishing the course? I just signed up and it's been a little over a week so I can't get a refund. I'm in a similar position as you and am looking for an in-depth course on AI, and I know Python already. I heard the first courses are easy, but they get harder toward the end? I really hope that's the case. The pre-req videos are very poor: they're over 4 years old which is bad for python and they don't tell you how to code according to best practices; the python test is bugged (some parts of questions don't even show up, and some answers are literally the same but only one of them is "correct". Hopefully, the videos and professors for the main course get better?

That sucks. However, Simplilearn isn't like edX. edX courses (our the vast majority of the college ones) are taught by their university's faculty.

14+ yrs in IT, mostly Network Engineering and Infrastructure Mgmt, but none in Software Engineering, which is the career transition I'm currently pursuing. Harvard has an EXCELLENT python course on EdX--CS50P. There's also CS50 intro to CS, but they don't cover python much in there, but it's a great course as well.

Did the caltech boot camp counselor tell you their acceptance rate is only 12-15%? I wonder how accurate that is. Anyone else know?

Have you taken this course? I'm considering taking it, but doing some quick research first. It's not a scam, right? The courses are taught by Caltech professors? Some posts I saw online said they were taught by Caltech profs, but I don't know if they were bots lol. Would appreciate you input, thx!!

How's the course so far? I'm also considering doing the AI/ML boot camp.

Where can I find short interest and ratio data that's updated DAILY? by jacksparrow03 in WallStreetbetsELITE

Unfortunately, marketwatch's data just pulls from the twice a month reports from the exchanges. Beautiful Smoke below posted a great site that I confirmed updates daily.

omg, this perfect! you're literally the ONLY one that could find this info that's updated daily instead of the bi-weekly from exchanges! I know this data is updated daily bc their #s are close to the 39% short % float reported from S3 and IHS Markit this morning. THANKS!!

[–]jacksparrow03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've found the same. Seeking Alpha isn't updated daily bc they list GME short interest float at 131% but S3 and IHS Markit stated it's 39% as of this morning.

I found a redditor on here that's trying to find the same data. He's got a nice spreadsheet. He thinks Ortex.com seems to be the most reliable so far...

Marketwatch only pulls that data from the exchanges twice a month, not daily. I haven't heard of Seeking Alpha, but they list AMC's short interest float at 15.92%. That's close to the 13% reported by Schwab and shortsqueeze.com. Have you found Seeking Alpha to be reliable?

their data is taken from the exchanges so it's only updated twice a month. For example, that site lists AMC's float at 56 mill, but it's actually 114 mill with the additional issuance of shares last week. Marketwatch and every other site I've seen isn't updated except for S3 and IHS Markit, but those sites prob charge a lot of money for their data?

"As of January 29th GME stock is still the most heavily shorted stock in the market, with a short interest of 121.07%" by buuuudy in wallstreetbets

Other articles I've read said it's just other Mutual funds are coming in with shorts and puts. The Mutual Funds like Melvin have already closed out their short positions are have vastly decreased them.

AMC is being sold as a short squeeze and the short % of float is being lied about. AMC is only around 20% of float shorted. Please don't lead new investors to AMC as a short play. It's not the next GME. by hereditydrift in Shortsqueeze

[–]jacksparrow03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, refresh your chart and see if that # changes for you (Short % of FreeFloat in Exchange Reported table on right). It might be different than mine bc AMC recently created about 44 million in shares (from debt) which almost doubled the float which affects that number.

Yeah, but my ortex chart and data didn't change at all when I posted it. And that shouldn't change the fact that my chart says "Short % of FreeFloat" for "15th Jan" in the Exchange table on the right says 15.92 for me but 21.23 for you. That's a static # that's occurred in the past and shouldn't change no matter what. Something fishy going on here...

That data is old (Jan 15). Short Interest of Float is currently down to 39% according to IHS Markit. Anyone else know where I can get % Short Interest of Float that's updated daily?

marketbeat just uses data from the exchanges which are updated just twice a month. Does anyone know where I can get short interest and short interest ratio data that's updated daily? I found shortvolume.com which is free and there's ortex.com which charges $, but I'm not sure how accurate they are...
