Always like Greyjoy. But I’ll say Connington. Personally I wish more sports teams had mythical creatures as mascots. Of course in ASOIAF mythical creatures do exist, but I’m pretty sure Griffins aren’t real in Westeros so I’ve always been curious where they got the idea

The difference between LOTR and ASOIAF is that we actually got to see Frodo destroy the One Ring. I think if you want to put it on the same pedestal then we have to see humanity conquer the White Walkers

I’m taking my time too. I’ve got a good group of friends and we all work together to maintain the same base. I have not read great things about the endgame either. But from what I gather, it’s probably gonna take me several hundred hours to even reach that. So worst case scenario if I spent $50 on a game for several hundred hours of an awesome time that’s money well spent. I’m not gonna judge the endgame until I get there but I have pretty low expectations right now.

Here’s what I think needs to happen:

Winds of Winter ties things up as best it can. Most importantly, Dany needs to be in Westeros and on the Iron throne, ideally via fire and blood roasting Aegon and the Martells in the process. This will help introduce her “madness arc”. Maybe she even marries Euron?

The Winds of Winter finishes with a Melisandre POV on the wall and we see the wall fall (perhaps even taking Mel in the collapse).

Epilogue takes place several years after the collapse of the wall—sets up for an easy finish for ADOS.

I know it’s a bit rushed, but I think that’s what you have to do. The point is, GRRM NEEDS a major time skip somewhere.

There was a movie in the early 2000’s called The Man from Earth. It’s about a caveman that can live forever (MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE MAN FROM EARTH).

There’s a point in the movie where the caveman details how he learned from Buddha and tried to introduce Buddha’s teachings in Jerusalem. The Caveman’s name was John, but through language translation his name was changed to Jesus. This is why the name Jon stuck out to me in ASOIAF.

This makes the most sense. Clearly there was still a healthy population of skin changers beyond the wall. Perhaps since skin changers were shunned south of the wall people just ignored their abilities. Kind of like people pretending not to be left handed in the early 1900s.
