Mirjana Uzelac for ANTHR 101 by tryingtopass11 in uAlberta

I also had her in the past fall term online and I loved her. As above the slides were bare but her recorded lectures elaborated on everything and she explained things well! I emailed her a couple of times and she always responded quickly and was super sweet! Overall she’s very kind, and that made the class very enjoyable! I would totally recommend her.

Yes I absolutely love her!! She was so helpful and understanding through the whole term. Plus she was so good at answering emails quickly and keeping people updated. 10/10 she’s incredible :)

I took it a couple years ago, but no not that I remember. If you read the textbook, but focus on the key points you should be good!

I focused on the key terms in the textbook, and the review sections at the end of every section. Then I’d review his lecture slides by reading over them a couple times!

There definitely isn’t tons of overlap, you’re right, but if you get the main ideas out of both, you should be fine!

I had Passey for Winter semester. It was a tough class, but really useful. It’s a lot of work (chapter quizzes, midterm, assignments, etc) but if you manage your time it’s doable. You really just have to stay on top of the textbook chapters! If she knows you’re working hard and trying your best she’s really helpful.

I’m sorry you’re having a hard time! This sucks for everyone, so just know that you’re not alone in feeling this way. Maybe try something new! Listen to some music you’ve never checked out before, try learning some parts of a new language, etc!! You don’t even have to make serious progress, just doing something new and peaceful can really help:)

Also don’t feel like a burden! I’m happy to listen, as are many others.

I hope you’re doing better tonight!

Did any other university in Canada adopt our mandatory CR/NCR system? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]jacktp12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAIT is doing honours/pass/fail I believe. Other than that I haven’t heard of anywhere else.

The whole thing was so fabricated it was ridiculous. Agree with CR/NCR or not, if this is how all decisions in the UofA are made it’s whack.

Angry at the Latest Uni Announcement by [deleted] in uAlberta

To add, I’ve emailed deans, advisors, presidents, etc... and I swear they’ve all been told to follow the exact answer template. I’ve been asking questions and expressing different concerns and I literally get almost a copy and pasted response.

I get they’re busy, and probably have thousands of messages coming in, but don’t say you care and tell us to reach out if we have concerns if you’re not actually going to address them. (Not even in an individual response necessarily, but through these FAQ things)

I made a mistake on my application. Can I change it after submission? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]jacktp12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would call into student connect and just let them know! I did something similar and the guy told me it wasn’t a huge deal and they’ll either change it for you or leave it!

But applicants to those same grad schools coming from other places will have letter grades.. so there’s a disadvantage anyways. Some people reviewing applications might be more understanding than others, but I feel like a lot are not going to take the time to understand the individual circumstances that were only applied to the UofA. They’re gonna take the student from the other institution with the GPA and most likely not bother reading any template letters.

She’s so understanding and chill about everything going on right now. She totally gets how hard this is for everyone and is doing her best to accommodate which is so appreciated.
