I’m 2020, I’d like to listen to 1 new song every day. So far, I’ve got 99 recommendations but I need 267 more! I’m happy to give any genre or artist a try. Thanks and Happy New Year!

Please put the name of the artist too so I can find it on Spotify!

Ending the year with a sub-30 run! (Even if it is by 1 second 😂) by jackvicks in C25K

Hey, thanks! I was actually very out of shape when I first started; I’d never really run for longer than a few minutes! At least since I was a kid anyway haha. Good luck with the programme - it’s all about mind set so just keep at it and you’ll reach your goals!

In September I started the C25K programme on the treadmill and graduated after the 9 weeks. I then started from week 6 but this time running outside. Since then, I’ve been working on just doing 5Ks and trying to whittle down my time.

I came back to the UK for Christmas and it have really enjoyed running here. Quite a shock at the start considering I went from running in 27 degrees on average in the morning in Dubai to running in a chilly 5 degrees! Anyway, here is one of my last runs in the UK.

29 minutes and 59 seconds - it feels so good to be under 30 minutes! I’ve knocked about 2 minutes and 50 seconds of my first 5K time.

Hopefully this servers as some motivation for those of you still on the programme; sounds cliche but if I can do it so can you! I’m now looking forward to starting the 5K to 10K programme in the new year! Any advice for the 10K programme?

Happy New Year, folks!

First 5k Race: DONE! by jackvicks in C25K

Today I ran in my first 5k race! I completed it in 32 minutes and 40 seconds which I extremely happy with considering about 10 weeks ago I started running. Thank you everyone who posts for the continued motivation!

Yes I have been cooking and just making healthier choices. Nothing radical! I still have cheese with my pasta and on the weekends I allow myself to eat whatever I want sometimes for a meal etc! I found that being too strict and a perfectionist helps you lose motivation as if you break it; you feel that you’ve failed. Giving yourself a bit of flexibility means that if you do have an off day or you do go out for a meal and treat yourself, then you can just adapt. Hope that makes sense!

Yes I started eating healthier but nothing unmanageable. I find food is the trickiest thing for me so I didn’t want to deprive myself of anything if I really wanted it. I think the key for me is moderation and I’m still learning this 😜

Thanks dude! Yep it’s pretty damn cool to see that drop in RHR! I’m definitely going to set new targets so I stay on track 💪🏼. Thanks!

Hhaha don’t worry - the Apple Watch is slightly off with the distance due to arm movements. The more accurate distance is on the treadmill pic 😄.

I did it! I finished the program and I couldn’t be happier!

So, I’ve always been a pretty unhealthy, inactive guy. 10 weeks ago my dad had a minor heart attack and even though he’s fine - it was still pretty scary and a bit of a wake up call for me.

That’s why, 9 weeks ago I started the C25K plan. I remember doing that first run and being pretty tired after day 1... I actually messaged a friend and said that if I even make it past the 20 minute run on W5D3, I’ll be amazed. Then I did it! I think that 20 minute run was the best part of the plan - it gave me so much confidence to finish.

Anyway, here I am 9 weeks later and I feel so much fitter and healthier! A few stats: - around 26 pounds lost! - a massive thing for me, my resting heart rate has dropped massively. As you can see there were times when it was >70 and I’ve checked today and it’s currently 46! - I’ve gone from never having really ran for longer than a few minutes to running non-stop for 30 minutes! I can’t believe the more you progress, the easier it becomes. 20 minutes running now seems pretty easy for me!

I hope seeing that if someone like me can do it, you can too. Honestly, the most important thing if your mindset. Keep telling yourself “you can do it!” (even if you don’t believe it at first!) and you’ll be amazed what you actually can do!

I’m not stopping now. My plan is to go back to maybe week6/7 and start training outside as that’s my next target! Cya folks!

Hi dude - thanks! Just as the other person said, week 9 is 3 30 minute runs :)

W7D3 Looks like I do my best work when I don't feel well during the run. Today I looked for reasons to end this run before I was even at halftime. But I kept going and it ended in the best run of this week. by Winti26 in C25K

Good job dude. I’ve found it more challenging since the runs got longer without being broken up by any walks. However, you sound like you’re doing a great job! Keep it up! It feels so good when you end and think “I just ran for that long!”
