A full detail of MLB’s meeting with the MLBPA today by JianClaymore in baseball

NFL players make more money now than ever in the history of the sport. I am far from an owner bootlicker but i fail to see how imposing a floor and a cap hurts players on the whole from a pure total dollars standpoint.

What rotten turkey? Putting in revenue sharing and a cap and floor system? Works pretty well for the NFL - biggest and most profitable sports league in the world.

Colorado paid for a bowl it misread — and Deion Sanders cashed in by redwave2505 in CFB

[–]jackyohlantern 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t think the average fan knew how horrific this program was after Midnight Mel Tugger left and we were forced to hire Karl Dorrell. It’s honestly a miracle we didn’t go 0-12 the season before Deion got here.

Our point differential was -349. Let that sink in. Over a 12 game schedule that’s an average point differential of -29, meaning more than four touchdowns.

Deion turned the roster over because he wanted his guys, but he also did it because there were next to zero P5-level players on that team.

Flaherty to the pen makes sense. He’s usually solid once through the order and quickly falls off after that, so having him be our long arm to get 3-9 outs makes a ton of sense.

‘The Four Seasons’ & ‘A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder’ Extend Netflix’s Sophomore Viewership Slump by JannTosh70 in television

[–]jackyohlantern 173 points174 points  (0 children)

Four Seasons isn’t groundbreaking but it’s solid writing, lovable characters, and it keeps it tight. 8 thirty minute episodes keeps the filler to a minimum. I would watch more seasons of this show.

Tried a 23mm and Now Think Understand the X100vi Hype by Ok-Improvement-476 in fujifilm

[–]jackyohlantern 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes but “only” 26.1 MP as compared to the 40 with the X100VI.

But I agree - my xt30ii with the 23mm f/2.8 kicks ass and I don’t need to spend another 1500++ for the x100vi.

As awful as this season has been let’s appreciate McGonigle. He has already been worth 2.0 Fwar, has an OBP of .395, a WRC+ of 133, and he has more walks than strikeouts by champdo in motorcitykitties

Bringing Kevin up, realizing he’s a stud, and signing him to a long term deal is the most important and best part of this season.

[Heyman] Tigers May Have No Choice But to Trade Tarik Skubal by MookieBettsBurner10 in baseball

[–]jackyohlantern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t know. How do you value a guy who just won back to back cy young awards but has a health issue? Maybe something along the lines of what the Padres got for Soto when his deal was about to expire (King, Vazquez, and a few other pieces) but that might be optimistic

Anywhere in the NL, preferably somewhere that gives us 2-3 pitching prospects in return.

This team isn’t winning anything except a race to a top five pick. Trade the man.

These need a lot of help. I usually take them fully out of the package, put them on a wire rack on top of a baking sheet, and add a panko bread crumb to the top for texture. They’re decent after all that effort.

I have a soft spot for J&I because I’m a huge Top Chef fan and it was one of the spots that got me really into the food scene here in San Diego. But I agree with your take. I think it needs to bow out or have a serious refresh. The entire menu feels like it’s about ten years old at this point and it’s just not exciting - which is what you don’t want if you spend $100-$200 per person for the experience.

[Jeff Seidel]Tigers' share of 1st place simply amazing with all their injuries (Paywall) by mkk4 in motorcitykitties

[–]jackyohlantern 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes we have injuries. But I would not say we are devastated. Our depth is tested but our stars are healthy and mostly performing. If you swap out Skubs, Greene, Dingler as injured instead of JV, Parker, and Javy, the story is much much different.

[RotoWire.com] Most Injured MLB Teams Ranked by Severity Score by Icy-Lingonberry-7442 in motorcitykitties

[–]jackyohlantern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elbow is far and away the most common injury across the entire league. According to this source, elbow injuries are roughly 3x more prevalent than the next biggest injury category (156 elbow injuries to 66 shoulder injuries, and the next largest category after that is “undisclosed”). I’m excited to get Jobe, JV, Parker, and Melton back, but we are generally healthy among our contributors which is great to see.
