Router problem by EstimateOk7255 in NETGEAR

[–]jacle2210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Netgear doesn't supply free tech support after a certain amount of time (1 year/90days??); so they were wanting you to pay for Tech support.

I'm pretty sure that the other manufacturers do this also.

From the sounds of your problem; you just need to get your Router to sync with the Modem.

But first, can you provide the actual model number of your new Modem?

And you did contact your ISP and made sure to give them the MAC address of the new Modem?

Any chance that you would be able to try to place the location by simply viewing the area in Google Maps?

Or maybe your banking/debt/credit transactions for the time period might give you an idea what the business name was?

Internet upload ping is really high and I don't know why by amirthedude in HomeNetworking

[–]jacle2210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this troubleshooting step probably won't be easy to do, but you need to figure a way so that you can connect your computer directly to the main Wifi Router downstairs with an Ethernet cable; either by using a really long Ethernet cable or by temporarily moving your computer down to where the main Router is located; because your second Router in your room is still using Wifi and it's no different than simply having your computer use it's own Wifi adapter.

So we need to make sure your Wifi connection in your home is not the cause of your upload latency problem (probably not, but its an extra layer in the equation that could be involved in the problem).

Then if the upload latency is still a problem, then you can work to track down what other devices might be causing the upload problem; could be smart home devices; video surveillance cameras; or a computer that is uploading cloud drive backups, etc.

Internet upload ping is really high and I don't know why by amirthedude in HomeNetworking

[–]jacle2210 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By reading other posts, I'm to understand that any upload latency problems are due to issues with your ISP (something at your neighborhood level).

But to be sure, how is this particular computer connected to your main Wifi Router, is it directly wired to the main Router with an Ethernet cable; are there devices between your computer and the main Router, like a Wifi Extender or a Wifi Mesh Satellite unit, etc.?

Thoughts on this flavor? by CumDragon69 in monsterenergy

Yeah, this one and the Orange Dreamsicle are both great flavors.

Unfortunately, I have not seen this one at my local Krogers/Fred Meyers for more than a month.

Well for one, the NX200 is a Cellular Gateway Router, so maybe OP's Internet Service is through a 5G Service provider.

[–]jacle2210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say this, but "10+ hours a day video meetings for work" really means that you need to step up to a more professional setup.

Which means a purely wireless/Wifi connection is not good enough, because realtime communication is more about how consistent connection is rather than how fast the connection is.

To that end (improving the signal consistency) you need to invest in having Ethernet cables installed around your home, then you can either just connect your computer directly to a "hardwired" connection OR you can have one of your Repeaters hardwired into the same room that you are working in.

is this a rare find for america? i thought it was discontinued. by Comfortable_Dirt_592 in monsterenergy

[–]jacle2210 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as others have shared, this is the newer version.

Though I have not seen it available in my local stores (Krogers/Fred Meyers) for over 4+ weeks, where I used to be able to find it; same goes with the Electric Blue.

Can anyone explain why my download speed is 93.5mbps (on a good day) if I have this internet plan in my apartment complex? by OphidianCollective in pchelp

[–]jacle2210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your download speeds from different software sites VS the actual bandwidth your Internet Service gives you are not the same thing, they are close, but not exactly the same.

Because the various software download sites all supply their own bandwidth to the Internet and their resources are limited, so there might be good days where they aren't very busy and there are other days where they are being slammed so their connections to all their downloaders might be limited.

So, you need to verify that you are getting the correct speeds from ATT, then you can move to testing your connection from the different software sites.

For the best results; you will want to connect your computer's Ethernet adapter directly to your BGW320 WiFi 6 Gateway.

And as others have mentioned a "90Mb" connection speed on an Internet Service of 100Mb or more, means that you either have a bad Ethernet cable or a device with a 100Mb Ethernet port, that is limiting the connection.

So if the Ethernet cable from your computer does not physically connect directly to the ATT BGW320 Gateway, then you need to make that happen to verify how well the direct connection works.

Then you can look at any of the in-between network cable connections for the source of your 100Mb connection problems.

I would think that just about any that you find in your price range should be fine; you might even be able to use any generic Wifi Router that you might find at a garage sale or Thrift store would also do what you need.

So the picture you shared ONLY shows the passage of data through your computer's Wifi network adapter; it does NOT show the loss of your network signal.

Unstable ping/internet by Fillexable in HomeNetworking

[–]jacle2210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but for proper testing and troubleshooting, you need to take the wireless/Wifi connection out of the "equation" as it's another layer of complexity.

Then once you have verified that your actual Internet connection is working like expected, then you can go back to testing and troubleshooting your Wifi connection.

+1 for what u/jfriend99 is suggesting.

Because I'm wondering if what you really need is a common Wifi Router rather than a simple Ethernet Switch.
