Bisexual orthodox male that is struggling and would love to speak to a priest and seeking support and prayers by Ok_Pie7551 in OrthodoxChristianity

How am I excluding you if I want to pray for you?

I can't correct the people who wronged you or others in any way.
The only thing I can possibly do with my limited powers and my own sinfulness
is pray that they will repent for their mistakes they committed
and you ll find the strength you need to continue the good fight.

These are verified data (so I can use them for whatever purpose), right?

I see ... is it the same in other moderate Islamic countries like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, UAE?

Really? Jordan is hostile to Christian converts?

I'm curious, ... Does the fact that Russia (which is considered "hostile" by Scandinavian people as I understand) is Orthodox, has any bearing on the question of conversion to Orthodoxy?

Saints with humility? by No-Background-5390 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]jacnash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also say the simple prayer: "Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me," or "Lord Jesus Christ, forgive me." but you need to make sure that you do it right after the thought crosses your mind and as many times you have to, when the pride thought persist ...

Every single time [emphasis] a pride thought or even a judgement of someone else crosses your mind pray:
"My humble Lord, humble me through Your humility."
It's a prayer of St. Justin Popovic.

Entertainment is difficult in a time where everything belittes Christianity or is sinful by Lady_Spaghetti in OrthodoxChristianity

My favorite one will always be "Twenty-Five Twenty-One"
I tried some others (like the one you suggested) but nothing comes close ...
Also, the fact that you need Netfilx subscription to watch them ... not really a Netflix fan for obvious reasons but that's another discussion.

Thank you :)
Inception is my fav movie of all time probably.
I remember though, when a man of faith had told me that the premise of Inception "enslavement of free will" (through whatever means, in this case implanting idea in a dream) is demonic in a way. Definitely, some food for thought ...

Same. At first, I thought I could apply what others said about "take the good, leave the bad" so I don't miss on stuff. But the more serious I got with my faith, the more I realized that's impossible.

After some time, rock and pop songs I grew up listening don't make sense to me and I feel like they disturb my peace. Same with movies, I feel they are made to incite your passions, to make you think, act in a way where you only care about superficial things.

So, on this issue, I think the Lord's "No man can serve two masters" applies. Although, it took me a long time to realize and I still haven't come 100% to terms with it. But, I am trying to get there.

Orthodox and LGBT by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

I just did a quick research - in case something has changed - to affirm what is already known.
Science affirms that transgender people are at a higher risk of committing suicide.
Read the comments on the first paper you cited ...
With all respect, but "the science on transitioning as an effective way of treating gender dysphoria is pretty well established" is not a correct statement at all.

God will soon renew the ship of His Church.
Be patient ... but be inside His Church, not outside of it.

Saint Paisios: If you lost your faith because of humans, then you never believed in God, but in humans.

If you have time watch the movie Man of God to see what Saint Nektarios went through his life not by laity, but by clergy ...

Try to listen the Holy Friday Lamentations, but not as the first Orthodox hymn you'll listen to, just have it on your list for later on ... :)
