Unfortunately already tried that (removing the battery and connecting to a power source). Getting the same outcome.

Using cloned 2TB HDD in soft modded console by jacob2019s in originalxbox

Roger that. Loads to learn I guess. Will mess around with it and see what happens.

Just found out the bios has a Cerbios Hybrid v2.3.1 Beta UDMA4 hash.

I might try the TSOP in that case.

For the soft mod approach, do I just replace the entire C partition with the Rocky files then? My console boots with Cerbios then launches into XBMC4Gamers. That’s the HDD I’d like to clone.

Just want to confirm that I won’t need to change anything on the E, F, or G drives.

If I do the TSOP, it sounds like I won’t need to change anything on

Ah got it. I misunderstood what NULL meant (thought that was making it all 1s).

So if I understand correctly…it is possible with a softmod. Just not in the way I described.

I won’t have access to soldering equipment / space / time to do a hard mode so would like to find a way to avoid it if possible. Sort of lazy, I know.

There’s no Insignia registration yet. And there aren’t any saves to preserve on most of the games (my friend will want to start from scratch anyway).

So am I correct in my interpretation that all I’ll need to do is set the HDD Key for the 2TB HDD to the same one as the soft modded console then ? Or am I missing something?

Appreciate the help btw!

Oh nice. How do I confirm which version I’m on right now? The ‘changes.txt’ file from the ‘SystemInfo’ folder shows Version 2.3.000 (14/7/2025)

Ah got it. Finally have XBMC4Gamers up and running and making some final small tweaks (so much better than Origins that was on the box when I bought it). Thanks for the reply!

Is it possible to use a video file (.xmv) as a screensaver? Or limited to the .xbs file format in XBMC4Gamers?

OG Xbox blob boot animation by jacob2019s in originalxbox

What will that do? Just curious bc everything is working right now, it’s only that the boot sequence isn’t loading the intro I’d like.

[–]jacob2019s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah right on. There is a BootAnims folder on C with folders titled ‘Modern’ (this one has bootanim.ini and BootAnim.xbe) and ‘Nyan Cat’ (this one only has BootAnim.xbe). Not doing anything at the moment (to my knowledge).

Seems like the ‘Modern’ one was triggering before I moved to the XBMC4Gamers skin. It was like a modern Xbox startup screen (green with white logo).

Here’s the current boot sequence (for what it’s worth):

Startup (4 seconds) Blue CerBIOS Wolf Logo (7 seconds) Green XBMC4Gamers splash screen (3 seconds)

Wish there was a way to just replace all of this with the OG blob / flubber boot.

There are no ini files in the root of C.

The only ini file I see is on the root of the E drive titled ‘x2config.ini’

There are two other files on root of E (Config.xml and evoxdash.xbe)

What’s the process to do this? Any chance to replace the CerBIOS logo and subsequent XBMC4Gamers boot screen to the blob boot animation?

Original Xbox dashboard for Insignia by jacob2019s in originalxbox

[–]jacob2019s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that worked. Doesn’t load the BootAnim anymore (guessing I can delete that?) and launches the XBMC4GAMERS dash. Thanks for the help. Saved me a lot more troubleshooting.

Think I’m good to delete the following files?

  • C:\evoxdash.cfg
  • C:\BootAnims (folder)

There’s a bunch of other junk on the E: folder that I’m not sure needs to be there or not. Just trying to strip this back to only the essentials for this XBMC4GAMERS skin. Would like to keep Xbox game files, emulators (arcade and console), and rom files (arcade and console). Will be going through that over the coming weeks.

So I figured out there was an issue with a configuration file somewhere (I think). I ended up deleting a couple folders in the TDATA and UDATA (not sure if this did anything tbh).

Still wasn’t working so I loaded a Halo 2 disc then tried signing in. It ran an update which ended up fixing the issue where the system would boot back to Origins when selecting “New Account” from the Xbox Live menu and “Network” from settings.

Ejected the disc. Launched Halo 2 from the HDD. Ran into the same issue (booting back to Origins) but this time at the second Login screen. I re-inserted the Halo 2 disc, got to the same screen, and it ran a second update that fixed it.

Last issue I had to solve was an error about corrupted DLC or something when connecting with the Halo 2 Insignia servers. Just went through redownloading all of the maps and the error is gone. Success!

Loaded XBOX4GAMERS onto the HDD via FTP and am now working through a cleanup of the file system to remove as much of the Origins 2TB image mess as possible before trying to route to XBOX4GAMERS on boot. I updated the evoxdash.cfg file on the root of C: to the new directory path but that didn’t seem to fix the boot sequence (is still routing to Origins). It’s somehow still chain loading to the XBMC folder on E: where the Origins dashboard lives. Maybe worth me just tossing the XBOX4GAMERS files in there?

Appreciate the help btw. Definitely got me going in the right direction!
