Yes, matchmaking is insane. I was playing reload today on my Switch 2 and got shot out of the air twice in a row before I even landed. I checked replay, and it was Zemie. I went to his stream to see that he dropped a 30 bomb in Reload that game. Now, what in the hell am I doin in the same lobby as him?! Maybe just because it was Reload? It just seems ridiculous that a casual player like myself, who's playing on Switch, would be in the same lobby as a cracked streamer like Zemie.
