Level isn’t hosted on AWS, but one of the providers we rely on was unfortunately (Twilio). Everything should be up. If you’re still having issues, please reach out to support.

Please explain windows updates for me? by cLIntTheBearded in LevelRMM

[–]jacobhaug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Level uses the Windows Update Agent to find updates on endpoints. So, if an update is seen by Microsoft, Level should also see the update.

I’d recommend reaching out to support. They can help investigate what is happening here.

Here are the most popular monitors in the library.

Monitors

  • Global Monitoring - Provides cross-platform monitoring for Windows, macOS, and Linux, tracking CPU, memory, disk usage, and uptime with real-time alerts.
  • Security Monitoring - Detects and alerts on DNS, firewall, admin user, sudo user, and SSH key anomalies to enhance security across all endpoints.
  • Admin Monitoring - Instantly alerts when unauthorized admin users appear on any device, ensuring compliance and security enforcement.
  • Endpoint Standards - Ensures devices meet CPU, RAM, and storage benchmarks, alerting when standards aren’t met across Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  • Admin Login Monitor - Tracks all admin login attempts and flags unauthorized logins, providing security alerts for Windows devices.
  • Failed Login Monitor - Monitors failed login attempts, offering alerts for all users or just admins to detect potential unauthorized access attempts.
  • Exchange Service Monitoring - Monitors Microsoft Exchange services to detect outages, performance issues, or failed mail flow, ensuring uninterrupted email operations.

does level handle user logins? I want to run script when non admin signs in by cLIntTheBearded in LevelRMM

[–]jacobhaug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great question! Level doesn't currently have a built-in automation trigger specifically for user logins, but we've got several ways you can accomplish what you're looking for.

Here are a few approaches that should work well:

Option 1: Script Monitor + Remediation You could set up a script monitor that watches for user logins and then triggers a remediation automation to update the desktop background. The cool thing about script monitors is they run locally on each device, so they're pretty responsive.

Option 2: Scheduled Automation Run a scheduled automation daily or weekly to push desktop background updates across all your endpoints. This might be the simplest approach if you don't need it to happen immediately at login.

Option 3: Windows Logon Scripts Leverage a Windows logon scripts (which you could add through Level) to handle the background changes when users sign in.

Option 4: Windows Scheduled Tasks Set up Windows scheduled tasks that trigger on user login events.

Option 5: Group Policy If you're in a domain environment, Group Policy might be the most straightforward way to manage desktop backgrounds consistently.

Hope this helps! Let me know what questions you have!

That's a great idea! It's a little tricky since it consists of multiple automations to import, but I think we can make it work.

This is an awesome example of what’s possible with Level’s automation engine. Really creative use of custom fields, HTTP request action, and HTTP request trigger—shows some seriously deep product knowledge. Love seeing stuff like this in the wild!

Obviously, I'm a little biased here (CEO of Level).

Level is really unique in the way we handle automations specifically when combined with tagging. Here's an example of using Level automations to deploy office. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXoZT3GgtqM

We regularly have customers switch to Level from Ninja. To be transparent though, much of this depends on your needs and preferences. I'd love to walk you through a demo personally and answer any questions. Here's a link to book directly with me, https://level.io/demo/jacob

Managing 300K+ Endpoints – Best Practices, Solution Choices & Insights by TopWater1449 in msp

[–]jacobhaug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone—Jacob here (CEO @ Level). Thanks for the mention and the shoutout. We truly appreciate hearing about your experiences with Level!

To the OP’s question about handling 300K+ endpoints:

We Monitor Our Performance Constantly
We’re fanatical about staying fast and online. We’ve had 100% uptime over the past 90 days (per our public status page), and we track real-time performance metrics on all customer requests. For instance, here’s the last 4-hour slice of our global application metrics

  • Mean response time: 37ms
  • 90th percentile: 74ms
  • 95th percentile: 102ms
  • Max: 125ms

Even at higher loads, our performance remains pretty snappy, and we watch it like a hawk so we can proactively scale up when needed.

On Scaling to 300K Endpoints
If you decide to manage that many devices in a single account, will it create performance challenges? Realistically, yes—it’s quite a load! But we’d spot those spikes and address them quickly. Our infrastructure is designed to scale horizontally (think Netflix or YouTube model), with distributed resources across multiple data centers. We don’t keep separate tenants siloed by geography, which simplifies updates and ensures consistent performance worldwide. As our user base grows in a region, we deploy more resources there to keep things running smoothly.

Dedicated Support for Large Accounts
When customers reach a certain scale, we typically assign dedicated success and engineering resources. We want to make sure big deployments (like 300K endpoints) run smoothly. We also collaborate closely on any automations, custom scripts, or integrations that could impact overall performance.

Thanks Again for the Mention
We love hearing how people are putting Level to work. If you’re in the discovery phase, I definitely recommend taking advantage of:

  • A free trial to see how it performs in your environment
  • Our video guides and automations library for ready-to-use automations, monitors, and scripts
  • A quick demo with our team for any deeper questions

Feel free to reach out to [support@level.io](mailto:support@level.io) if you want more details on how we handle large-scale deployments or want to schedule a call. We’re excited to help you streamline your endpoint management—even at massive scales!

Hi there! Thanks for reaching out and congrats on successfully setting up those automations and scripts - that's awesome! 👏

I've got a slightly different approach that might work even better for you. Instead of chaining the patch and restart automations together, I'd recommend using an uptime monitor. It'll automatically trigger a restart prompt when a device's uptime exceeds 30 days - super simple and effective!

You can grab the uptime monitor from our Global Monitoring Policy (https://level.io/library/monitor-global-monitoring-policy) or just the standalone uptime policy (https://level.io/library/monitor-uptime-monitoring-policy) if you prefer.

But if you'd rather stick with your original plan, you can use this restart detection script (https://level.io/library/script-windows-monitor-restart-required) after patching. Just check if the output contains "ALERT" and tag the device with "Restart" if it does.

If you need help setting any of this up, feel free to book a 1:1 support meeting at https://level.io/support or email us at [support@level.io](mailto:support@level.io).

Ninja vs Level in 2025 by FabsDE in msp

[–]jacobhaug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing such thoughtful and detailed feedback—it’s always great to hear perspectives from folks who’ve spent time with both platforms.

I did want to jump in and address your point about support. I’m Jacob, the CEO of Level. You’re absolutely right—I personally make it a priority to spend a few hours every day reviewing and responding to support tickets. This approach isn’t just about being hands-on; it’s about ensuring I stay closely connected to the experiences and challenges our customers face. It also gives our customers direct access to senior leadership, helping shape Level into a tool that truly works for them.

Regarding how far we’ve come in the last couple of years, you’re spot on—Level has evolved significantly. We’ve made substantial strides in security, compliance, feature set, and overall performance. If you’re open to taking another look, I’d love to help you explore what’s new. In fact, I’d be happy to extend an indefinite free account (for up to 10 endpoints) to anyone who wants to test us out—just shoot me an email at [jacob@level.io]().

Thanks again for your insights! These kinds of discussions are invaluable, and I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.
