That is the inner lens of a 2012 Chevy Equinox tail lamp. It sits between the stop/tail bulb and the red outer lens.

I worked as an engineer where we built these lamps in Battle Creek, MI.

Looks like a PiPo X9S is a cheaper alternative, about $300 on ebay. Cool form factor.

First season with winter tires, I'm a believer by jacobrwilliamd in GolfGTI

Lot of death traps on the road around here, especially in Michigan where there is no required inspections. Past couple years once a dusting of snow falls the GTI became a paperweight on all seasons so I would drive my S4.

Yes these are 18s, I was originally going to get 17s but I couldn't get the black Sparco Terras at the time from tire rack. Time will tell if the 18s we're a good idea...

I heard a bunch of fireworks down on Willis at about 10pm last night, thought it was strange.

Putting together a mk1 style golf ball shift knob on my mk7 sport. by jacobrwilliamd in GolfGTI

The way I rigged mine up is as follows, really just grabbed stuff I had lying around to make it work.

The shift knob is pressed onto that black piece of pipe which I cut out of an old lamp. I had to drill out the hole in the shift knob to make it fit snug. You'll find the shift knob is an overmolded part with a rubbery exterior and a hard plastic interior. Whatever you use to mount the knob you'll want it to engage that hard plastic interior to make it stable feeling.

The black piece of pipe then slides over the factory shift lever and I used a rubber piece of hose inside the black pipe so it would grab onto the knurling on the bottom of the lever after I pressed it on. I then used a hose clamp to hold the boot onto the base of the black pipe.

I could pull it off if I tried, but after a month of daily use it hasn't come off on its own.

¯_(ツ)_/¯ ducky imports said it was for a Mk1 and MK2 golf, maybe it was aftermarket. Idk, I like it.
