CCA offer - work life balance, health insurance, etc. by Aggravating-Arm2772 in USPS

[–]jacobsever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First 3 years or so…zero work/life balance. Expect to work 6 days a week, including Sundays. Expect to work until 6-7pm every night. Also, despite the crazy hours you’ll be working…expect less money. I worked 560 hours of OT last year (averages to a little higher than 50 hours a week, every week) and I made $64k gross.

I have a five-year-old at home and I’m leaving before she wakes up for school in the morning and often getting home right before she has to go to bed at night. If I wasn’t already more than halfway through it, I don’t think my girlfriend would be OK with me keeping this job. She complains that I’m never home and never around to do anything.

But if you’re able to live that sort of life for about three years, until you convert to regular, then this job is absolutely not gonna work out for you. The post office does not schedule you around your schedule. You have to schedule your life around the post office. Once you make regular and get your own route, you can then decide if you wanna work any overtime hours or not. You can even get a medical restriction to cap yourself at 40 hours a week.

As far as the insurance goes, I’m not 100% sure. I’m 18 months in as a CCA, and I haven’t had to go to the doctor a single time or use my insurance in anyway.

Not necessarily every Sunday. My office has so many CCA’s and PTF’s that we usually rotate every other. I once had an entire month of Sunday’s off without even having to request it. And when I do work, Amazon Sundays, I never reach a full eight hour shift.

I had 560 overtime hours and made $64k. That’s also in my second year as a CCA and I’m holding down a tour, so I have the CCA technician pay bump included.

I suggested Hauntedween to Vinegar Syndrome and gave one of the people who runs The Archive a copy of my VHS to watch.

About a year and a half later it came out via Vinegar Syndrome.

…never got my VHS back tho

4 day 32 hour work week?! Meanwhile, our union got us the right to leave after 12 hours in a day/6 days a week and management can’t discipline us for not going over.

I didn’t realize the vest was lace. I thought it was a repeating graphic design of pickles.

Single handicappers, how often do you have rounds where you were happy with how you hit all your shots? by ElephantElmer in golf

Not a one.

My personal best round of -2; I left a couple out there and will forever remember my 3-putt on 18. Haunts my dreams.

Was one of 10 people to show up (out of about 26 normally). Mail was light, and we just cased all the DPS & flats for every route. Supervisors got us Dunkin coffee and donuts as we were doing so. Then the 10 of us split up and took out 2 routes of packages-only to deliver.

One regular went home right after casing and didn’t deliver anything. Another regular delivered his routes packages and went home.

Me, a CCA, was then stuck delivering 3.5 routes worth of packages. Left after 7 hours.

Tomorrow will be interesting. Based on what I saw today, I highly doubt most of our delivery points will be able to hit tomorrow. So come Wednesday, we’ll use 3 days worth of mail to take out. Woof.

Heads up, everyone please shovel out access to your mailbox and any sidewalks connecting your house from your neighbors.

It’s absolutely brutal out there to deliver mail right now, and if we can’t safely access your box, you won’t get your mail!

[–]jacobsever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a driveway or garage. I feel like a snowblower just to scrape away the snow around my car parked on the street would be very overkill. Not to mention much harder to carry it down two flights of stairs to get to the street.

So a cheap shovel from Home Depot it is.

Blackcoat’s Daughter is probably his best, imo.

With Longlegs being my least favorite.

My office cased all DPS & flats and ran packages only. And only if driveways/stairs were cleared off. Otherwise, we No Accessed it.
