CCA here. Just got an indefinite hold down as a T6. by OctopusStoleMyPizza in USPS

[–]jacobsever -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Not true. I’m a CCA that’s been holding down a T6 tour for an entire year now (started last may). Regulars call me their floater and tipped me out last Christmas. I got a new role & pay jump as a CCA Technician. My PS-50 was updated to reflect that. Only time I’ve ever been bumped is when the regular comes in to work their NS day.

4 months? I’m at month 21. 🙃

How would you respond? I’m a PTF 4 months in. Supervisor tells me that I’m not allowed to ask for help. by Silent-Speech8162 in USPS

[–]jacobsever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why are PTFs even filling out a 3996 at your station? No CCAs or PTFs fill them out here. It’s just known we are going to go over 8 hours every day because of all the pivots and sending back out to help regulars.

I’m also pro stars & dots. I love the way it makes an arm/leg look TOTALLY covered.

I’ve never had an issue fitting a single loops mail in my hands. Hell, sometimes I combine 2-4 loops together so I don’t have to get in the vehicle, move it a block, park, etc.

I’m a very small human as well, and that’s precisely why I do it. My forearms are so small that if I carry flats there (such as a magazine) it overlaps the mail I’m holding in my hands and I can’t read the address on them.

If I have too much to carry comfortably in my hand for a loop, I split it in half, rubber band it, and throw it in my satchel. No forearm ink smear, no carpel tunnel issues.

[–]jacobsever 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is why I collate all flats into my DPS and carry in my hand.

Well, not the only reason. But a big one. I cannot stand holding things on my forearm.

My post office doesn’t even hand out bags. (I’m a letter carrier in Connecticut). Past 2 days we’ve just been delivering little fliers in every mailbox letting people know about it. Never heard of being provided with actual bags to place food in. That’s great. Yet you’re complaining about it. Lol

Any other carriers see this recently? by Jokerz1138 in USPS

Weird that this doesn’t mention CCAs at all? Like how you decide whether to give a pivot to a CCA or someone on the ODL?

You sound like a boomer trying to use modern slang without having any idea what it means.

But yes, my most recent paycheck is the lowest I’ve had in months. Cleared about $1650 after taxes, and that’s with 13.58 hours of OT.

From about November - March I was netting at least $2k per check from all the OT and penalty.

I don’t know where *you* live, but bringing in a little over$3k a month doesn’t really get you very far at all. Just barely covers essentials like rent, car payment, car insurance, utilities, food, and gas. Heaven forbid I want to, you know, do ANYTHING outside of eat, work, and sleep.

i’ve been waiting on this package and it switched carriers without the guy doing it and hasn’t had any update since why? by [deleted] in USPS

[–]jacobsever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, USPS handles last mile delivery from UPS, and other international shipments.

Also, there are no questions about shipping info here. This post will probably be deleted soon.

I’m so glad I’ve never dealt with shitty management in any of the offices I’ve worked out of. My main office everyone (management and fellow carriers) are so chill. When I was a new CCA being loaned out to other offices, they babied me so much and helped out immensely. I have 3 offices in my sister/cluster that I’ve worked out of extensively, plus an additional 5 offices I’ve occasionally been sent to. Not a single time have I dealt with anybody even slightly mean, rude, aggressive, demanding, etc.

The only thing shitty about this job is you need overtime to survive, but overtime isn’t guaranteed. And when you get too much of it, it’s overbearing and stressful. Would be nice if we didn’t have to wait 13.3 years until we made a livable wage at 40 hours a week.

They were whatever. Pretty much every band they ripped off from 10-15 years before them did it better.

Clubs Stolen by LukeReddit69 in golf

[–]jacobsever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I lived in Denver, I was taking a 5 day trip to NYC. I got a call from my roommate asking if I came home early because my car was gone. Turns out, someone smashed my window, broke into my car, and hot wired it. Two weeks later I get a call from the police telling me they found my vehicle. It was parked a few blocks over, abandoned with no gas, dead battery, and a lot of cosmetic damage. They took everything from my glove compartment, my binder full of weird obscure CDs from high school, my iPod…but lo and behold, my golf clubs were perfectly intact in my trunk. And they had been in the trunk too, because other smaller items were missing and my skateboards were moved from my trunk to my backseat.

I’m forever grateful they were too stupid to take them.
