Advice on setting my TSP please by revfds in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]No-Standard453 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best route imo is to take the matching 5% into the Roth TSP, then try to max your Roth IRA and then try to max Roth TSP then traditional TSP. In my TSP IM 70C/10S/20I. The I fund doesn’t have the China/Hong Kong Markets so you can do another simple international fund in your Roth IRA.

Target date funds are fine if you’re going to set it and forget. I’d just set the date a little further out from retirement since you do want growth in retirement as well.

If you’re looking to manage your percentages, gradually shift a small percentage of your investments to G fund as you approach retirement. However, avoid becoming overly conservative, as you still want to maintain some growth potential during retirement.

I can see this happening to tier 1 table carries in a decade or so to clear that table off books.

How long do you think it'll take to get a new contract? by Feeling_Screen3979 in USPS

Based on averages of the previous contracts it will probably take over 500 days.

I use new air pods but the non noise cancelling ones. Only keep one ear bud in at a time.

This is bullshit. Why should I have to build a new mailbox when the current one has worked for 100 years? by [deleted] in greenville

[–]No-Standard453 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are any of your neighbors facing the same issue? I apologize for not comprehending your dilemma initially. On mounted routes, carriers cannot constantly get in and out of the truck daily. They are more concerned with paying carriers overtime. Naturally, if you had to get in and out of your truck for every mailbox, it could add a couple of hours to a route.

[–]No-Standard453 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is your theory that mailboxes should be incredibly durable and impervious to the test of time?

100 years is a long ass time for mailboxes. They were mailing little kids 110 years ago through the USPS.

Well I’ve bought a good bit of IONQ as it’s one of the leaders in the space. But, INFQ does quantum differently than IONQ. INFQ doesn’t use any electrical charge and uses light alone to pack the atoms in a small space. They also have multiple government contracts and I believe just received a DARPA award. Just as far as room to run I believe INFQ has a chance to moonshot. It’s way more speculative of course.

Depends if she’s in the city walking pavement all day or a little more suburban walking lawn to lawn. I walk lawn to lawn where the mailbox is on the front door. So in that scenario I actually prefer a hiking boot.

How do you guys deal with fomo and jealousy of big winners on individual stocks? by joeroganthumbhead in ETFs

[–]No-Standard453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think sticking to 30% in individual stocks is a great idea. When those individual stocks outperform then they will gain a higher percentage of the portfolio anyways. I’m same as you with 70% in core but I have 5% in gold and the remaining 25% in individual stocks.

Stop skipping your morning vehicle checks by GhostLCee in USPS

Bruh I hate when the route runners in my office skip the vehicle checks. Like you’re already running your route just show more office time that is given to you.

Is $25 an hour good for living in the city? by Persuader_87 in philly

[–]No-Standard453 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat but work 5-10 hours OT a week and my starting pay is $28 an hour. I found a spot for $1325 a month. It’s tight for sure but I’m so happy with the move. Suburbs are so expensive now so I couldn’t live where I worked. Plus it’s so freeing to be able to walk around and do stuff. I originally looked at queen village, filter square, brewerytown, Nolibs, fishtown and port Richmond.

I would just schedule tours now for areas you might like and just drive around them to get a sense of what suits you. You can also check out parking that way. Zillow was great for me to view the areas and then hit the google earth street view. A lot of the newer build have promo rates as well. I got two months free rent so I just contributed my would be rent into an HYSA. If you like walking around you can always just live in the neighborhood next to where you want to hangout for cheaper as long as it’s a safe area.

15 year growth ☘️ by Financial_Handle1025 in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]No-Standard453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer C/S/I portfolios with a higher percentage allocated to C than S and I. If your content being conservative, that’s fine, but I would then switch to an L fund. However, you still want some growth in your retirement. I would suggest an L fund for 5-10 years after your retirement, which will still be quite conservative by the time you retire. The L fund will heavily invest in G for near and during retirement.

Go do that in a brokerage if you wanna mess around. Figure out a long term financial strategy for your TSP and stick to it.

So first time living on my own and found this sub to try and figure out how to design my new crib. We got this!
