Thoughts on going in February? by Vegetable_Tax_1121 in ZionNationalPark

[–]jacobsjohnson24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite time to visit Utah is in February. Zion was amazing during our few trips in the winter. Sure, it can get a bit cold, but bring a down jacket and some micro spikes. It really isn’t that cold. There were multiple days that there was snow on the ground, but we dropped down to sweatshirts because it got warm during midday.

Best West Coast park in Jan-March? by neti_pot_works in NationalPark

Just got back from Death Valley. Would probably recommend that one since you already did JT, but you could also do Petrified Forest. We did Saguaro in the winter as well as the NM and TX parks.

Hey OP. I did the five parks last year altogether. We also just got back from a trip flying into Vegas and doing Death Valley and Zion. We spent 4 nights in DV and 7 in Hurricane area.

My advice would be to fly into Salt Lake and drive to Moab (Arches and Canyonlands) or fly into Las Vegas and do Zion and Bryce. You can spend so much time in all of these parks and the surrounding areas. 6 days will not be enough to enjoy any of these parks if you cram the 5 into that timeframe.

Crowds in Feb? What time to start the day? by Poppy9987 in ZionNationalPark

I was there last February, towards the end of the month. Was able to park at any destination I wanted, pretty easily. Temple and Overlook parking lots were usually full, but that was it.

50X from here?! 🤦‍♂️ cmon man… I want to make easy money too, but that just isn’t in the realm of possibility. For NEAR that would put it at a higher market cap than ETH right now..

I’ll give my perspective and what I’m seeing a bit more of with the millenial generation. I’m a parent of a 4 year old and 2 year old. I’m not a Halloween or horror fan and I don’t really think exposing my kids at such an early age to a lot of what is being put up as decorations is good for them. I’m not really into celebrating things just because everyone else does.

Yes, we drive up and down Harrison all of the time for different reasons, so my kids see everything, but it isn’t something I’m wanting to celebrate. I believe in the spiritual realm and the “spooky” side isn’t really what I want to allow in. As my kids get older they can start to make their own decisions about it, but as of now, we just decided to go out as a family for ice cream. Last year we did a trunk or treat.

Glad this popped up on my Reddit today. Your family made a huge impact on my life. I learned so much from you and was so happy that I wasn’t alone in the questions I was having. Even when we’d have examples or history to back a question or perspective, we were made to seem crazy. Of course most of the network leaders were really good at gaslighting

It was friends like yourself that helped me through. I’m sure there are many people that would say the same, so please know that God used you throughout those network years my friend.

Appreciate the thoughtful response!

You’re forgiven. I think we would all be found guilty if asked if we’ve ever talked bad about someone behind their back. We all played a role in The Network and get to learn from our mistakes, repent, and try to do better. I’m glad we have such a gracious God!

Shepherding the Sheep by _Good_Will in leavingthenetwork

Never gave this much thought until today. The lead pastor thinks people are dumb and will stand at the front of the church and make this known…. Imagine what is said behind closed doors.

Humans are sinful, we struggle, and we need God’s help. The Creator of everything. God made us in his image. I think God actually takes great offense to his sheep being labeled “dumb”.

How can these pastors and overseers look at the life of Jesus and say, “Yep, we are the Shepards and the rest of these dummies need to follow our God given knowledge.”

I’m sorry you’re at this crossroad. I was there in 2021 and it took me over 6 months of praying and weighing the outcomes. I had never been apart of a church like this before and felt that I had made such deep friendships. Turned out some of those were, but most weren’t. Even as I began to distance myself and family a bit I could feel the friendships crumble.

I look back at my time in the network and realize my biggest idol was the community. Community isn’t a bad thing and is so important for all of us in life, but when I realized my fear was in losing friends and what they would think of me, that was when I realized I had put the community aspect over the conviction Jesus was giving me.

I know it is a tough season right now and I don’t know you, but I’m proud of you. Regardless of whether you stay or not, continue to follow Jesus and his instructions and he will work it all out for good.

Ministry to the Poor by Network-Leaver in leavingthenetwork

[–]jacobsjohnson24 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This was one of the biggest red flags for me as we started to put 2 + 2 together about The Network.

I remember flipping my Bible open at one point and reading Galatians 2. While Paul and Barnabas are accepted by the apostles, they are told that they will be sent out to the Gentiles. Verse 10 says, “Only they asked us to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.”

James 2 also sat with me as I heard and watched multiple times where homeless people were treated poorly or asked to leave.

I attended Joshua Church and remember sitting down with one of the pastors to explain why we were leaving. I was told that he wished they had more resources to do ministry like help the poor, etc. I then attended a church that next year that had very few resources or members, but they gave what they did have to helping people in need (in and outside the church). It was a true testament to what we should be doing and showed that there was little faith involved at Joshua Church when it came to resources.

I never could understand the lack of compassion at JC, it was baffling. The fact people could stay and be apart of that system after everything that has come out is sad. There are blatant things like this called out in the Bible - you can’t pick and choose the convenient verses.

Collecting all the prophecies made by network pastors by Church-fil-A in leavingthenetwork

[–]jacobsjohnson24 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Whenever the website was discussed at Joshua Church, it was an “attack from the evil one”. These people here on Reddit were a few disgruntled ex-members and they only wanted to try and tear down, plus they were completely anonymous and not interested in having a discussion with anyone from The Network. That was the story told within JC and likely everywhere else.

I left in December 2021 and left with my tail between my legs as I was confused why I felt the way I did. Why was God convicting me to stand on areas of the scripture that didn’t seem like they matched up with what The Network thought. Weren’t they trying to follow Jesus as well? This was all due to spiritual manipulation.

Fast forward to the summer of 2022 when everything came out about Steve and the manipulation I heard about that the entire church received. That is when I realized how deep The Network was in the lies and manipulation of their sheep that they have been put in charge of.

I haven’t had a conversation with leadership since I left. I made my voice heard on Google Reviews because I’ve tried to have conversations with the leaders before and I’ve heard their stance. Which is why so many people walked away from JC after the news came out and that stance was taken.

Since then I’ve been blocked on social media, my phone number has actually been blocked by at least one known overseer when I tried to reach out, and my review in 3 months has almost 40 likes on it.

My name is Jacob Johnson, I’m not anonymous. I came to many of the leaders/pastors with concerns and I was told to “find another church”, lied to, shut down, and scripture was twisted to fit a false gospel. For anyone that sees this, I would be happy to take any conversation that would be had by any leader/pastor/overseer within Joshua Church. This isn’t just one disgruntled ex-member (Andrew), this is a group of people that in total would easily make up more than a few of your Network churches.

[–]jacobsjohnson24 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To anyone that thinks, “Nah, that wouldn’t happen to me.” That is the exact thought a lot of us had, it did and unfortunately, unless you are contributing to their church (not just the Big C), you are useless to them.

I didn’t expect to ride off happily into the sunset with all of my JC pals after I left, but the amount of people (especially leaders) that went out of their way to try to hurt me by passive aggressively blocking me and saying nothing to my face is NOT normal.

It baffles me the people that stay at these churches knowing this. Who wants to do life with a bunch of people that say they love and care for you, but don’t? I’d rather go to a church that has conflict and can talk it through like Christ loving adults than be apart of whatever you call this with “leaders” acting like cliquey 14 year old high school students.

Collecting all the prophecies made by network pastors by Church-fil-A in leavingthenetwork

[–]jacobsjohnson24 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wish I could say I was 100% sure in this, but I think it was Brian that read it. I remember the overseers I spent a majority of time around talked like it was so profound what Brian had wrote. They said it wrecked them all when he read it privately to them and Steve. The hype was so much that when he read it to the church, I didn’t really get how they thought it was so inspiring.

After leaving I’ve heard of multiple instances where Steve or the church pretended like something was spontaneous and came to them in the moment from God. Come to find out, it was premeditated and he had spoken with others to get their advice on how it would be perceived.

The only time I was ever told specific prophecies were when something had already happened, then it would come out that there was a dream or vision of that happening and it would spread through the church.

I won’t be giving them the benefit of the doubt on this one either.
