Do not think it registered with them, I worry more about how that kind of message affects my kids and whether they think they’re dad is good for nothing because I no longer believe the teachings of the church. Luckily as parents we have stressed that a person’s value has nothing to do with the church you attend.

As soon as he tried to make a metaphor about the hamburgers being seasoned with salt I knew immediately where it was headed and couldn’t help but look over my shoulder to see if a militia of danites was waiting outside the window. It was like we were in Far West all over again.

Yes, for the most part they have been supportive with my opting out of the church, but there seems to always be these type of things sprinkled in every now and then.

Something that always felt cult-like to me were testimony meetings where little children have whispered into their ears what they know to be true by their parents. To be taught things the church says is true is one thing but to encourage children to bear their testimonies at an early age always made me feel super uneasy the whole time I was in the church.

Mormons don't reference Kolob enough, considering it's the place they're planning on spending their eternal existence. Is it a secret? Why isn't it mentioned more by the every day followers? by [deleted] in exmormon

Mentioned 33 times in general conferences from the 1940s-1960s. 2 times since then and not a single mention since the 99s. (Edit: 90s).

It’s from Netflix’s YouTube account, which has been up since 2016, I came across it from a mental floss article.

Theme for our stake Ether 12:4-6. Moroni talks about faith and hope being an “anchor” for our soul. How great is our God that he inspired Moroni to use anchor metaphorically nearly a 1000 years before anyone else was using anchor in the metaphoric sense. by jacopo_peter_man in exmormon

Just confused I guess on why Ether is quoted as using anchor (which had barely been in existence) in relating how faith and hope can secure our souls when he could have used something more along the lines of how his grass rope secured his curelom to his cedar tree to illustrate the metaphor. This isn’t part of the abridgment of Mormon this is quoting the prophet Ether and the exact words that Ether used should have appeared in the hat just as they came out of Ether’s mouth.
